| My 4month Yorkie exerts extensive saliva from mouth yesterday i tried to clean my yorkie's teeth with 4 paws tooth paste, and tonight lots of saliva started to come out his mouth, so much that his chest was completely wet. what should i do, will it go away, and is toothpaste causing this or can it be tree leaves he ate in backyard?? thanks so much. |

| It could be from teething

| I doubt if it is the toothpaste. I'd call the vet. Welcome to YT. |

| I would certainly check with the vet. My Toto did that at about the same age and our vet [smiling a little] said it was because she was teething. Her little chest stayed soaked and I carried a "drool" cloth until she cut them all! I hope your baby is OK ... please keep us updated.

| should i wait till tomorrow Thank You all, should i watch it for today and if saliva does not stop coming out, go to vet tomorrow? what do you think. It might me allergy to toothpaste that is short-timed? do you think teething might cause this, not toothpaste? Last edited by camapa; 03-19-2007 at 09:03 AM. |

| Is cleaning teeth required for teeth at that age? Since teeth are not permanent and will come out, do i need to clean them at this age and how often, once a week? |

| She probably doesn't need her teeth to be brushed everyday yet, but you might want to get her used to it now. It might be hard to get her to let you do that later, if you don't start now. You could get one of those little toothbrushes that slide over your finger and kind of clean her teeth that way to get her used to it...

| Thank You all so much, glad to be here, he is well now. He is all dried up, 8 hours later, thank to all, might have ate something or toothpaste might have caused it. |

| If you continue to brush his teeth , try placing just a little bit of tooth paste on the brush . From time to time peoples use too much for the first times . |

| Yes, you should consider brushing them even though they are 'milk teeth'. It's good to get them used to brushing their teeth early on
