| Elderly Yorkie not drinking enough water... Hello everyone, I'm new on here and have a 14 year old female yorkie, she means the world to me and she has been with me since she was 8 weeks old. I took her to the vet recently as she has lost quite a bit of hair on her back and my vet suspected Cushing's disease so she took blood from her and phoned me back with the results which showed that it wasn't Cushing's after all, much to my relief! It showed that her kidney's and liver are fine but she was dehydrated..she always has fresh water down at all times but i hardly ever see her drink..i may see her take one VERY long drink every now and again..I have been trying to encourage her to drink more often, giving her milk watered down a little and soaking biscuits in water to try and keep her fluids up but i am at a loss as to what else i can do. any advice would be very welcome! kind regards to all Kez&Heidi x |
