| Switching Food - Gassy I am in the early stages of switching Tucker (5 months old) from Nutro Lamb and Rice Puppy to Chicken Soup Puppy and have noticed that he is unusually gassy and some of his poop is a bit less firm and stinkier (is that a word) than normal. Should I keep going and hope this passes (no pun intended ). I'd like him to be on a healthy food and price doesn't really matter since he is such a small guy, but I would like it to be a food that I can buy in town which limits me to what the farm and ranch store sells (diamond) or PetCo. I think I'm making the transition pretty slow - I've worked him to almost the half Nutro, half CS and it has been almost a week since I first introduced CS. What do you all think? Is the Nutro a good enough food? How does it rate? Kind of "if it's not broke don't fix it"? Thanks, Julie and Tucker |

| I am not sure about Nutro (I have heard Nutro Ultra is good though) because I personally have only bought the Innova Puppy Dry and have changed to Canidae because my puppy didn't like Innova after 2 bags and Canidae is much cheaper than Innova with the same quality but what I know is, sometimes when you change food, it does take time for their tummy to get used to the new food. Give your puppy 2 weeks and if the situation still persist, maybe the food doesn't agree with his tummy. Sometimes it is not so much of the quality of the food. Like human, it really depend on the individual dog and what their tummy is okay and not okay with.

| It is completely normal for his tummy to be a little upset while making the transition to a new food. Chicken Soup Puppy is a better quality food that Nutro by far in my opinion. Trying to switch him to ANOTHER food at this point will only upset his tummy more. Stick to switching him to the Chicken Soup and try adding a tablespoon of plain white yogurt to his food. The probiotics in the yogurt will help settle his tummy. |

| I tried mine on chicken soup and the gas was killing me and him..........I tried Canidae and gas-be-gone.........I guess it depends on the pup. I feed a teaspoon of cottage cheese every day too.
