| Every once in a while for no apparent reason, Tink gets soft stools ick. The thing that works best is to give a teaspoon of pumpkin in the morning for 3 or 4 days. Stools firm up and you don't have to change their food. My daddy taught me that one. Course, if the stools don't form up, then you've got a bigger problem and will have to fuss with diet. But I'd try the pumpkin first. Canned - just keep it in the fridge. |

I can just picture you tossing poop across the room! ROTF LMAO! Too Funny! I'm on tears here!!!! I have never given any wet food here! Not at all! i'm not a fan... I keep two cans in the cabnet for the unforseen emergency that I may need it, but I have yet to use it. Its all teeth cleaning kibble here! I really want to promote good healthy gums with my guys.. and all that chewing is the way to do it! It keeps the teeth stable in their sockets and keeps tarter down which keeps the gums from receeding and prevents bone loss! Boy thats a mouth full! But Back to the FIRM POOP! I'm going to check out all this food! Charlie is down to about 5 days of food left... so now would be a good time to make a decision huh??? lol I could just pick up a tiny bag of his CS and start moxing it with whatever I decide on... And the girls have a TON of food left! The don't eat much...

| Donating YT 1000 Club Member | What I have found is the better the quality of food, they harder the stool! When mine were eating Brightlife, there's were hard little tootsie rolls. Now they won't eat that brand so we are trying to find a new one.

| I feed Max Hill's W/D prescription diet food. I leave a bowl of the dry food out all the time and I do feed him 1/6 of a can of the canned stuff morning and evening. He loves both the wet and the dry and since I started him on it, he's had very firm stools. He was started on this food after he had a bout of pancreatitis and the vet said he needed to lose some weight, so it's a lower fat type of food I guess. Having firmer and dryer stools helps with expressing the anal gland too, which makes me very happy to not have to worry much about that issue now. I have to buy the food from the vet, but it really isn't any more costly than what I had been feeding him before and he's lost weight and hasn't had anymore issues with any illness. They make several different formulas, depending on what your dog really needs; Max needed the low fat one so that's what he got, but I'm sure they make a regular formula also, since I know your small dogs don't need to lose weight! All I can say is when it's too cold for Max to run outside, I'm really happy he's on this food, LOL.
