tapeworm question.... After you get the pill from the vet for tapeworms, and administer it....are you suppose to see more of the dead tapeworms in the stool?.....I've been inspecting every single poop that she has made from the day I brought her home and I haven't seen a trace of any......but last night...I saw a piece of a live tapeworm in her stool...so this morning I called the vet and went to pick up 1/4 of a pill (hehe)...anyway...I gave it to her as soon as I got it home...now she has pooped twice, and twice I've seen a good amount of tapeworms in the poop....is this how it suppose to work?...that quickly?...and for how long?......Thanks

| well tapeworms and roundworms are different but i think it is typically the same when it comes to getting rid of it, reason i say this is because coco had round worms from eating grass. and what happened to him is the exact same thing he was pooping it out. i kept finding it in his stool for about 3 days then nomore. only difference i know of between tape and round worms are that tapeworms leave eggs everywhere that look like rice i beilieve, not 100% sure i might have my worms mixed up but i'm pretty sure it's tape worms i would wash all your linens and all places that your dog sleeps and sits etc..just to avoid it reaccuring. also look at her heinie to see if there are eggs present. but it sounds like the meds are working. let me know how it goes oh ya and she sure is a cutie!

worms You usually do not see tapes, but you do see round worms..but it is not always the case I should say. Tape worms are those dried segments that look like rice grains..they dry up very fast. Last edited by YorkieRose; 05-13-2005 at 04:57 PM.

worms Yes..it will kill some and some may be alive..sometimes they repeat the worming in 14 days. If you use a heartworm prevention that kills fleas you won't get them.

When Oreo had both tapeworms and roundworms, the roundworms were gone fast after the deworming pill, but the tapeworms were still there, they weren't visible in the stool, they look like sesame seeds around the rectum and the hair surrounding the rectum. Oreo didn't get a pill for the tapeworms, he got a shot and they were gone within the next day or two, and his case was really bad, he almost died.

Tapeworms My gf and myself have a pair of yorkie brother and sisters. Kuma (my yorkie) had tapeworms (look like bean sprouts and can flatten out). As a preventitive our vet gave meds to both our pups and sure enough, roughly 4 hours later, both are throwing up and pooping out a tapeworm. It was gross but it did the trick!
