| Food..picking Just needed to hear how and what everyone's furbaby like? Siu Pao used to like his Innova but not anymore then I bought Canidae. He used to like it but not anymore. I know its boring for him to eat the same thing everyday so I try to make it more interesting. I put in some natural plain yogurt or some cottage cheese. He licks the yogurt and cottage cheese and leaves his kibbles sitting there and wouldn't eat them. I cook for myself and hubby everyday so I will boil some chicken or salmon and add it to his food. I also add some apples and boiled vege and he will eat everything but the kibbles. Sometimes he will eat a few but that is it. If I do not add anything, he doesn't eat anything either. I don't know what to do next. I am thinking of can dog food but I know if I mix with kibbles, he will just eat the can food and leave his kibbles and its too much for me to feed him 100% can food. I am thinking of cooking for him but what about the time I need to travel or board him for a few days? Is everyone's Yorkie this picky? He seems to like Fromm's White Fish & Potato but I know he will get bored of it after 2-3 weeks. Please help. I need ideas to get him to eat a little more.

| lexi is the same, but i found out that she will eat her kibble if she is hungry. i still mix in veggies or chicken with her kibble, but very very little and i mix in like a drop of gravy or sauce and mix it all around.. she will eat all the veggies or chicken and spit out the kibble, but when she is done with that, she does go back and eat the kibble...

| If I were you I would probably stop giving him anything with his kibble, because he seems to have adapted to ALWAYS having something with his food. This will be a huge problem when you want to leave him wiht someone else because maybe the person watching him won't be cooking for him or adding things to his kibble. He needs to be more adaptable. I think if you just stop giving him the goody additions he will eventually just eat the kibble. They won't starve themselves. He will eventually get hungry and eat the kibble when he realizes nothing is coming. Then once he starts eating the kibble continuously for a month or so, you can incorporate yummy additions once or twice a week. I do that for Coco, she only gets yummy additions like yogurt, broiled chicken and such on weekends.

| I usually give Izzy the "extra" stuff as treats and only after he eats his kibble. He gets finiky at times and I just let the food sit until he eats it. After that I give him a treat. Like the other YTer said, they wont starve themselves. Good luck!

| My Ace is so picky too Hello Everyone! Ace is 13 weeks this monday. I had him for last 2 weeks. When I first got him, he didn't eat anything. I had take him to the emergency room beccause of the hyperglycemia. For 4 days, I feed him Gerber baby food and can food every 2 hours. After that, I took him back to the breeder for 3 days and the breeder was able to feed him some chicken liver. Since I got him, I have been giving him chicken liver and kibbles. He will only eat chicken liver. I mixed the kibbles with cottage cheese and he does the same thing. Two days ago, I threw some of his kibbles on the ground and he must thought it was a treat because he ran and ate it. So just be patience with your puppy. I was so scared every time he won't eat. I don't want to tak him back to the emergency room again.... It looks like Ace doesn't want to go back there either... |

| I have similar experience. She likes innova and stop eating the kibble. She is now eating Nutro and she likes it. Eventually she gets bored and I add dry liver and she eats it. Sometimes she does not eat the kibbles in the morning but eventually will eat it in the afternoon all of them. I will not change the kibbles since this may cause the puppy becomes a picky eater ( I think) . She eats well now and the dry liver treats help. |

I think its good to change once every 3 months though. I think I will give him a treat after he finishes his food instead of putting stuffs in because he sure is smart to pick all the yummy stuffs!
