Peeps Are peeps and/or other marshmellow containing foods OK to give dogs? I never heard that they aren't, but I just want to make sure before I decide if Rocky's going to have a pumpkin shaped peep :) |
hmmmm good question! I'm not sure either. I've never heard anything about them being bad. I know they sound yummy!!! |
I dont know if I would give something with that much sugar in it to a dog. I am sure one wont hurt anything I just dont see why they really need it |

The same reason people "need" candy! :p |
I'm with chachi, too much sugar can't be good. It will cause that insulin spike then will follow up with a crash. Level blood sugars are best, even if a dog is not hypo - or hyper -glycemic (same for humans) Not that a little sugar wouldn't hurt.... |

My vet's office actually suggested mini marshmellows for training treats. I love my vet, but I hate to say I probably know more about nutrition than they do (since they recommend Eukanuba and Science Diet! YUK) anyway I wouldn't recommend it! I've given Loki a bite of rice krispy treat and he lived through it, so I can't imagine it would be harmful. Just not good for them. |
The reason vets reccomend Eukanuba and Science diet is they get rebates on their educational loans from those companies...At any rate consider this, sugar is very bad for teeth, yorkies tend to have issues with teeth, minimize the risk...Aside from that I would not feed peeps to myself so Bruce surely will not get them... |
Hmmm...puffed sugar coated with more sugar....I'm thinking it wouldn't be ideal. ("Ideal" being the key phrase...) |
It's not like I would give him peeps morning-noon-night. Just a little piece once in awhile. |

I don't think a little piece once in a while will hurt. What is Nutrical? Or corn syrup? Sugar. |

Yeah that's what I was thinking! Not like I would buy a box and split it evenly with him! Or buy a box for him only! I really couldn't deal with a dog THAT hyper! |

treats Is your Yorkie a chewer or does he swallow treats whole..I have had both kinds. Not much use in giving a variety of treats to one who swallows without chewing..candy or chicken, veggies or steak, it is all the same to them..they don;t even taste it going down...the chewers enjoy treats more...Kate will chew on a small bites a yogart treat for a few seconds..Emee swallows them whole. |
