How Much Protein is Good for Our Yorkies? Thanks to omega I thought of a few questions. They may have been answered before, so sorry in advance. :D All the 6 star dry foods on Dog Food Analysis are too high in protein for Yorkies. So, the questions are....What percentage of protein should we stay under? What do you think is the desired range (i.e. ?%-?% of protein) we should be giving them? Are there any reasons we should give more or less protein? Thanks! |
I know if a dog has liver problems he needs less protein and a puppy or pregnant female need more protein than an adult. I think I have a bookmark on the nutritional requirements, I'll check it. Nicole, You seem to be interested in Yorkie's diet. Take a look at this link and let me know if you think I should order this book for $30.00. I asked my vet how much protein Yorkies should have in their diets and she said between 24-30 % should be ok if there are no health problems. What do you guys think of that? omega |

Just to toss another monkey wrench into the equation, I read something else that said it's a good idea to rotate your brand of food occasionally. The logic being, no food is perfect, and altering foods will help ensure your dog isn't deprived of an essential nutrient. |

This DOES make a lot of sense. But to be perfectly honest, :idontknow Does anyone else know? |
