| Leaving food out Ok so I got thinking just a minute ago. I had read in a thread where someone said to please not leave food out all day for you yorkie. Well this is what I do. I leave her dry kibble out all day. She doesn't over eat. So why do you not want to do it? What's wrong with leaving food out? Just wondering not trying to say one way or another actually I'm wondering if I should stop.

| I leave food out for my girls ALL day simply because they eat like mice, specially Chanel. I don't see anything wrong with leaving out food Maybe they meant it's better not to do that with dogs that over eat?

| I leave dry food out for my babies all the time. They also do not overeat. Then they get soft food 3 times a day. They need to be able to nibble when they are more active to keep there levels up. |

| Ok thanks guys. When I was younger we had a poodle and we left food out for her so I figured I needed to be doing the same. The post just got me thinking but I don't really remember when I read it so I may even have read it wrong.

| I feed my dogs some wet dog food every day - and leave the dry food out all the time. Honestly - mine are so picky - they really don't like the wet food and dislike the dry food even more. I don't think they eat two pieces of dry food a day. But - just in case, they get hungry when I'm at work ---it's their own fault if they starve --right? I am really trying hard not to give them people food - and make them get hungry enough to eat their dog food. But, what I am noticing is that they are really visiting all the neighbors more often to get treats. I live in a condo association and we have 12 units (six duplexes) next to one another --- and a backyard that runs the length of two football fields. This is really a great yard for all our little dogs. And most of us here have little dogs and love everyone else's as well. The dogs run free in the yard a lot and visit all the neighbors and all the other dogs -- but, there is no doubt that my two little "starved dogs" are often on a food hunt. It's hard to win - isn't it! Anyway - yes, I leave dry food out all the time. Carol Jean |

| I can't leave food out all day because of my older dog..he'll gobble it up! So we have scheduled feedings. I also read somewhere that feeding your dog strengthens the bond between the two of you. Your dog looks to you as the leader of the pack etc. |
