ear mites??? My puppy keeps scratching at his ears and rubs his head along everything, the sides of furniture, my leg, the ground, his crate etc. I'm worried something may be wrong with him...He has also been crying a lot more. How do you know if your puppy has ear mites? |
Look for small brown coffee ground looking things in the ears. It could also be an ear infection. |
The vet will take a swap of the inside their ears. And what you describe does sound like ear mites. They'll give you medication to clear it up. Btw, where are you in Virginia, neighbor? :wavey: |
i would check with my vet if romeo was itching. if it's an infection his hearing could get damaged. |
thanks I'm making an appointment right now! |
Do you have any other pets? Ear mites are more of a cat's thing but dogs get them too so if you have any other pets, it's best to treat them all. Best of luck! |
I took him to the vet...he said everything looks ok it could just be allergies, so I'm giving him childrens benedryl and hopefully that helps. Thanks for the help! |

This happened to my oldest Yorkie, Krissy, it turned out she had yeast in her ears. The vet gave us some cleaner and drops that cleared it up in about 3 days. Good luck! |
He may be teething, sometimes they rub their face and cry when they are teething and rub there ears as they are not sure where the pain is coming from ,try rubbing along the out side of his little jaw and see if that helps. |
Itchy ears 1 Attachment(s) Oh i hope your little boy gets better. I had this issue once and thought it was earmites forsure, but tests found yeast buildup in lower ear canal. Very painful and drives the little ones nutts at night. I used to bath alot 2 times a week while in show coats and feed way too much Hagen-Daz and cottage cheese.. LOL Oh boy did i learn the hard way. Vet gave us Otimax for the yeast and OtiCalm for cleaning the ears out once a week. Itching all gone and so it the Hagen Daz, and i bath now once a month. |
