you can flip them over and scratch their butt and you can see if they crawl on belly you can also take a q-tip wet it and rub on area you think may be flea dirt if it turns red then possible sign of fleas Usually flea allergy affects back half of the dog so they usually hang out there

I too think this is a tick. For fleas we recently started using Frontline, and so far no more fleas.

| Any dawn will work but you need to put it on thickly and leave it on 5 mins then rinse. It doesn't work for ticks

Dawn: This dish soap is just about the best gentle grease desolver on the market. That is why they use it on the birds and animals that are "oiled" during an oil spill. It works on fleas because it desolves the oily coating they have that protects them from other soaps and chemicals.

It may have been the deer tick or the lone star tick. they both look alike to me. Im not sure how long he had it, but it was big already. When I removed it, it left him valcano type bump. I gave them all a bath with the Dawn dish soap. Unfortunately, today I found a tick on my Lola Pistola and they didnt go out today. So, it must of come in on either myself or yes, my husband! (I'll just blame it on him again). I'll be heading out to PetsMart in the morning to buy some type of flea and tick protection. I've read some nasty stuff on Vectra (now has a different name, something with "shield" in the name) But I need to buy them something for protection from these little monsters!
