under skin growth, need advice Hi everyone. We have a 10 years old girl who is fairly healthy, good blood work results, no known issues. A couple of weeks ago noticed a small bump under her skin next to one of the nipples. Our Vet recommends to take it out and to perform a biopsy. Since she never was spayed, they also recommend to do that at the same time to reduce a risk of cancerous tumors in the future and to help with the recurring UTIs. Our dog is under 5lbs, was never put under for a procedure before. I am not sure what is the right thing to do, any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone. |
I think you should go with what you vet is suggesting. Mammary tumors can grow and get bad rapidly. She also is at an extremely high risk for pyometra which is life threatening and would result in an emergency spay. |

Lovetodream is 100% right. If your baby gets pyometra it can be fatal. I lost two females years back because i didn't get them spayed, they died from pyometra. PLEASE follow your vets advise, remove tumor and spay at same time PLEASE  |

Yes, if not spayed she will continue to get tumors. Follow lovetodream advise. And thank you for agreeing to spay her, you will have her more years doing this now. Please keep us updated when she has her surgery. |
Scheduled for 8/25, fingers crossed. Thank you everyone for your advise. |
