| Weight loss for 7year old yorkie My not so little guy was recommended by our vet to drop a few pounds. He is starting to develop a cough which my vet feels like is trachea related (yes he wears a harness) and losing some weight should help. We are currently on regional red dog food by Orijen any other food recommendations to help him cut back? Obviously we are willing to buy him the best Thank you team!!! |

| Has your vet listened and checked for heart issues? The reason I ask this is because Acana was the top food that started the DCM investigation and was linked to heart issues. Coughing can be a sign of congestive heart failure and because they were on the food I would want to rule that out sooner rather then later.

| I’m not sure that it would show up in blood work.

| Fabian was also advised to drop a few pounds. The vet said to cut back on his meals (from 1/3 cup of Fromms Adult Gold twice daily to 1/4 cup twice daily.) She also advised cutting back on the olive oil we drizzle on his breakfast to keep his coat shiny and to give him carrots and green beans as snacks rather than higher-calorie options. Finally, we are much more active once the snow melts. So far, her plan is working. |

At her heaviest, she was 13.7 lbs, at her most recent exam, which was last week, she was at 9.1 lbs. They both eat 3/4 of a can a day -- the second yorkie is a bit smaller than my older girl -- but I occasionally give them a bit more. | |
