| Help - scabs! Help my 6 year old yorkie has started getting scabs. They range in size from a pencil eraser to a popcorn kernel. T anyone time she may have 0-8. May go months in between without any. I never notice any kind of sore or wound before the scab shows up. Vet thinks they are an allergy. Vet wanted to use an antibiotic/anti fungal shampoo. I decided to try a natural coconut oil and Manuka honey shampoo instead. Used it 2x and has. It helped. She eats broccoli plus grain free salmon and sweet potato kibble from Costco. She is hardly outside so I don't think it is from the outdoors. Any other ideas? Anyone else experienced this? Would love some help! Thanks. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | The scabs are likely a pyoderma infections (staph intermedius) and due to environmental allergies (food allergies extremely rare). It doesn't matter if she is outside or not - allergens are microscopic. Could be pollens, dust, grasses etc. Read this on how to approach: https://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/di...tart-here.html

| Sounds like a skin infection from allergies. More then likely environmental allergies and that could also mean stuff inside.
