| Reverse sneezing Does any one have a dog that gets excited and reverse sneezes? It only happens when I come home after being gone for any amount of time. I know its not collapsing trachea because my moms yorkie had it pretty bad and Callie has a mild case of it and it does not sound like that at all. If I cover her nose for a few seconds and she gets her breathing under control it stops and shes fine. Sometimes during high allergy times she will do it several times during the day and the vet recommended trying benadryl during allergy times when she is doing it and it seems to do that trick.

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | Yeah, Eddie used to have that quite bad when he was younger. I was terrified and long suspected a collapsing trachea. But he actually seemed to grow out of it. I don't remember the age, but maybe by about the time he was 3 or 4. It never bothered him like that again.

| Karlee had it quite often for several years, and it does seem that she grew out of it too. I used to help her get over an episode by gently rubbing her neck/throat with long gentle strokes to get her to elevate her nose and stretch the neck.... it seemed to help her relax the spasms. It is frightening to see, but good to know it is not harmful.

| Penny will do it sometimes after drinking especially if she has been running around and stops to drink really fast.

| Don’t worry Taylor, I see many above have the same issue. My boy does this when excited and stops when I cover his nose. Not trachea related. I think mine tends to get worse bc of allergies and certainly in the bathroom if there is a slight odor of perfume. I know you have enough to deal with four dogs and other issues, so please don’t fret on this! |

| Yes my furbaby was doing this for like a month or so. I was so worried it was tracheal collapse so I took him to the vet and they said it was just reverse sneezing. And he stopped doing it like 2 weeks later. |
