| Hypothyroidism - low thyroid levels - to med or not? I have been away from the forum for a while, life gets in the way! Remy is now nine, and turning 10 this August His most recent bloodwork indicated low thyroid levels. This happened once before, a few years ago with the interim year showing normal thyroid. Our vet is recommending thyroid medication. Twice daily for six months and then more bloodwork. I am not sure I am on board. He exhibits NO symptoms of hypothyroisim. His is not lethargic. His skin and coat look great. No random weight gain. Does anyone have experience with this condition? Any experience with a yorkie on thyroid meds? I would welcome the input |

| I personally would trust the vet. When Callie tested for hypothyroidism she didn’t really have any of the symptoms either. It would not hurt to do it for 6 months and retest. Sometimes we think we see no symptoms but them we see a good difference after we start treatment.

| Thanks for your input. Did you see any change in behavior pre / post medication? |

| I thought she was slowing down a bit due to age but saw an improvement in that after medication. If he has hypothyroidism and you don’t treat it, it can cause stress on the body.
