Just a little concerned
 
Just needing opinion. About 7 week ago my boy had gastritis and took him to vet. At that time the vet said he was concerned about pancreatitis. He gave him meds and he got better. But, now every day or two he is vomiting yellow bile. He acts fine and eats twice a day. Just wonder what could be causing it or does he need to be checked again. I may be making a fuss over it because I know it’s not that unusual to vomit bile ever so often but every day or two has me concerned.

Hope he is feeling better!

A blood test will tell you how the pancreatic enzyme levels aredoing and give you the information you and your vet will need. Better to know and start treating it right away if it is needed. Don’t want to ignore it and let it get worse.

Bile is normally because their tummies are empty. When is he doing it?

Give a small meal/ snack before bed and see if that helps.

Main treatment for this is diet, no medication.
What is he eating?
No dry food, no commercial food (please watch movie PET FOOLED, just a must watch).
No FAT !!!! number one to avoid.

Low fat diet, small portion and often (not once-two per day)....

forgot to mention. Absolutely no any kind of JERKY!!!!

My yorkie had many problems and most of them gone after I completely stopped giving her that junk.

She was diagnosed with pancreatitis just yesterday, because she has same symptoms as your dog. But not as much as she had when she ate many jerky...

The "documentary" is very biased. There is nothing wrong with the right commercial food where they have vet nutritionists on staff, do feeding trials and have good quality control. Raw in my opinion is just not safe. I feel like home cooking is one of the best option when done right with supplements but not logical or possible for some people. Medicine is required when having a pancreatitis episode because it is extremely painful!

If you are referring to the kind you buy specifically the ones made in china that have been recalled but sadly put back on the shelves then yes those are bad but you can make your own jerky at home.

Its not necessarily the same junk but you can make your own at home and that is certainly not junk. When I first got into looking at food I was very passionate like you but then I took the time to really dig deeper. There are many people behind that site and that "documentary" that are doing it to help their companies out and trying to use scare tactics to get people to buy their backers products. Foods that come from companies that do feeding trails, have quality control and vet nutritionists on staff is not junk. Very little in life is just about what we eat. Very few dog health issues are effected by what the dog eats. Also try to keep in mind that its great to have opinions but bashing other peoples food choices by calling it junk is a bit harsh and could be taken offensively.

Did blood work on my little guy today his morning. He has pancreatitis. I need help with his diet. Vet said low fat. He did not recommended a certain food. Just low fat. Need help getting him on the right track. Want a good food for my little guy.

Your vet did not suggest prescription food? That is what I would do at least until you can get him stable and not vomiting.

PLEASE don't go reading things on the internet to look for a food. There is SO much misinformation out there.!!! The links above that were posted are biased information and NOT written by someone with an animal nutrition background.

If you want really great information, you should read the FAQs on this web site. This site is run by a vet nutritionist .. if you don't find what you want in the FAQs, you can send her a question. She is very helpful!

I have a pup with GI issues....we put her on Hill's Science Diet Prescription Food...ID Low Fat. She is doing fantastic on it! Call your vet and ask about it.

Since she is still having problems, you might want to rethink listening to the links you provided and put her on a prescription food! I have had many pups over the years who did very well on RX foods. That nonsense being passed around about how those foods are bad is just that...nonsense!

Pancreatitis can kill a dog quickly. You really need to rethink what you are feeding...of course they still can get it even on a low fat diet, but it is less likely. Have you seen a specialist? might be wise to consider that and have them do an ultrasound to see how her pancreas looks...

Just picked up what my vet recommended. Science Diet ID low fat. I hope it’s good food and helps my boy.
