| Vegetarian diet! Hi there, I posted earlier about my trials with my 1 year old hypoglycemic pup...but I guess it didn't go through. Regardless one of the suggestions my vet has come up with is a "vegetarian " diet for my Nemo. Has anyone heard of this? And if so what brand of food? I know dogs are omnivorous. ...so quite skeptical about this. Any input would be appreciated.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I would not go vegetarian for this pup - most especially after reading your other thread. What clinical outcome would a vegetarian diet achieve for this kiddo...? I'm a pescatarian...haven't eaten meat in like 25 yrs - but I wouldn't do a non-meat diet for my dogs unless I absolutely had to.

| I wouldn't do it unless it was the last resort. I would try other things first.

Edit: Royal Canin Vegetarian is a prescription diet--it requires a veterinarian's prescription. Last edited by pstinard; 03-21-2017 at 09:45 AM. | |
