| Yorkie diarrhea Hello, I've had my 5 year old yorkie, Lucy for almost a year and last night she had her first bout of diarrhea. And then again this morning. She has been a little gassy too. Nothing has changed in her diet and she has not vomited at all. She weighs about 6 pounds. She always seems to nibble on grass and that's never seemed to be a problem. I tell her not to eat it but she doesn't always listen. So I'm wondering if this is normal for yorkies or should I get her to the vet tomorrow? Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated 😊 |

| Welcome to Yorkie Talk. Diarrhea is never normal, but it happens occasionally, about once a year, to my Teddy. Usually a bland diet of steamed chicken and plain rice get him back on track within 24 - 48 hours. If the diarrhea is frequent within a day, I would rest his system, withhold food and see the vet. Teddy had a bad case where the diarrhea came once an hour. If the diarrhea shows signs of blood, or if your boy is dehydrated, definitely see the vet.

| Happy to hear Lucy is better! I had my head stuck on boys when I posted above. Hope your little girl is back to 100%.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Glad she is already feeling better. There are some strange tummy bugs going around right now in dogs.
