Rough dark skin on her back
 
:confused:I recently adopted a 8 month old yorkie and about 3 or 4 days ago a red spot, about the size of a half dollar, appeared on the middle of her back. I thought it might sunburn (though she doesn't spend more than 10 minutes outside at a time). But About 2 days ago the spot turned dark brown and got a rough texture. It doesn't appear to be bothering her, but it has me concerned. Does anyone know what this could be or what may have caused it?

Do you have a picture...sounds like she might have gotten bit .....just a wild guess

It has spread more today. And gotten a little darker. It doesn't seem to bother her at all. It does feel like a bite. Could losing her baby hair be causing this? I would appericate any help. I'm worried about my baby. :(:confused:

Yorkies do not normally lose their hair or shed. Looks like she has lost some hair in the area. I cannot see the spot in the photos, but the thinness of the hair means something is going on.

I would have the vet take a look.

I can't really tell much from the photos, unforch. But if there is hair/fur loss, you def need to take her in asap before it gets worse.

Besides a skin problem which is what it looks like on the surface ...being that you just got her it could also be flea bites or mites.....just mentioning does not mean that it is one of those but if it is you do not want them to populate on her. Some dogs do not scratch, so it is hard to tell if they have these little monsters until it shows nasty signs.


I hope she is ok but it is important to get her to a Vet...I would say ASAP.
