| Teething help So my Bentley will 6 months on the 23rd and I just noticed the other day his baby canines are not even loose and the adult ones are coming in behind/beside them. Any suggestions on toys or chews to help maybe loosen them up? His breath has started to stink too. I'm thinking from the extra teeth so I bought a finger brush to try first. I wasn't sure what toothpaste he could use if any at his age. Any suggestions would be appreciated! |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Many yorkie pups have to have their extra teeth extracted during their spay/neuter, it's very common. You can try different chews, but they may not do much. For toothpaste, CET is a good one.

| More then likely he is going to have to have them removed. Most people get this done when they get the dog neutered which I would do anytime after 6 months old.

| I'm having the same issue with Winnie right now. Retained baby teeth and horrible breath! I do brush her teeth every day.....still stinks. Especially after she wakes up from one of her 75 naps a day lol I use a kit I bought ...sentry petrodex. She tolerates it well surprisingly...it helps temporarily. I'm hoping the dragon breath will go away after she is spayed and has them removed !! |

| Thanks for the suggestions! Sorry I'm just now responding, between work and the holidays and being a little under the weather, I didn't get a chance to get on here lol but he has actually lost one of his baby canines on his own. I'm hoping he will lose the other one as well. The vet suggested that he weigh at least 5 pounds prior to getting neutered sooo I've held off on that at least until the beginning of the year lol |

| I use the CET chews, the CET toothpaste, and the CET water additive. It is what my vet recommends. My girls love the chews.

| Our 6 mo old Addie is also having a horrible time with her teeth. Took her to vet last week and he prescribed pain medication and canned food (Hills i/d). She doesn't like it. I've been crushing up the Orijen puppy food and mixing it with the i/d and she will eat a little if I hand feed her. I've added a little honey at times, but it doesn't help much. She loves Nutrical, so she gets a couple of dabs of that. Joan gave here some turkey this morning and she ate it fine. Addie has permanent teeth coming in, but most puppy teeth are still there. Vet wants to wait till August and see if puppy teeth will loosen up a little and then remove puppy teeth and spay her at the same time. Her brother, Raider, isn't having any problems with teeth. He has lost a few puppy teeth and has a few permanent teeth coming in. He gobbles his food and tries to help Addie with hers. He is having a "hot" affair with SockMonkey, so neutering is coming soon for him. |
