| Winnie's new food Hi!! Winnie was weaned on Blue Buffalo small breed and I kept her on it when i brought her home. She never had normal poo...always soft and after a recent mushroom incident and the vet say she believed there was an underlying intestinal problem that made her react worse to the mushroom. She does believe there was too much protein in the BB...so her new food we are introducing this weekend is Hills Ideal Balance Small Breed Puppy. It has slightly less protein and no corn, so I was just wondering if anyone has any experience with this food? |

| I'm not a huge fan of SD or BB, personally, but I do feel you would be better off with SD and the Ideal Balance is definitely a decent food. I would feed it over BB.

| We sold the regular science diet in our office for years....I was very surprised to see that it has whole grain corn in it....not even corn meal but corn!! That initially turned me away from it....but I talked to her vet and while most of the brands I'm drawn to have corn or corn meal in them she said the ideal balance would be one to check out because there isn't either. I've tried several of the higher dollar brands and she will eat around the kibble in her i/d....so we tried this one and she ate the kibble first!! I'm hoping we have no poop issues!! We have tried wellness, nutro and simply nourish and she avoids them all. I had gotten a sample of iams small breed puppy in the mail and was going to try it but it does have corn meal in it. Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Nature's Logic would be the kibble I'd feed if I fed kibble (I feed pre-made raw instead).

| My 8 yr old, DaVinci, suffered with tummy problems and loose stools for years. The Vet put him on Hill's Prescription W/D and occasionally he still had an upset tummy and would throw up. I hated giving him this canned food, the list of ingredients did not look good, every time I tried to take him off it he had the runs. About a year and a half ago he just refused to eat it, for 3 days he would not eat it but still ate his kibble. I started researching and realized that the grain in his diet was perhaps the cause of his tummy issues. I read A LOT of online reviews on grain fee, glutton free, organic foods and decided on Organix Grain Free and all of his tummy problems went away. Rarely does he get gassy, loose stools, or vomit. I have my 12 week old, Jeter, on the Organix Puppy, also grain free and he is a little pooping machine going 3 or 4 times a day. I was a little upset with the breeder when she told me she fed the puppies Beneful because it is available everywhere and she didn't want to feed them something that wasn't available everywhere. Anyhow, when I brought him home he would not eat the Beneful so I gave him some of the older Yorkie's kibble and he loved it. It was too late when I got home with him to get him anything else, stores are closed at 10 pm on a Sunday. First thing in the morning I got him Organix puppy and he hasn't had any problems with the sudden change in diet. I am a big fan of Organix, it's organic, they have grain free and non grain free and a variety of wet food. I don't feed my Yorkies or cats wet food. |
