Dental Cleanings My vet continues to recommend cleanings every year and I am wondering how common this is. Gus is a four year old and this will be his third cleaning. I have tried just about everything and brush daily but he still gets tartar |
Some yorkies will definitely need once a year unfortunately. Some dogs seem to be okay and teeth never have many issues, while others get tarter build-up fast and need cleaned every 6 months. Jackson's teeth build up real quickly if I slack for a few days. He had a dental at 2 1/2, and one at 4 1/2, I believe. Either way he's almost 6 and has had 2. He may need another next year. |
I wish I started doing cleanings yearly a long time ago. It's only $99. Brush his teeth thoroughly every day and you might be able to space those cleanings out. |

My dentist wants about 350.00 to do it. |
There are drops, sprays and chews that can help clean teeth, our Heeler still had perfect teeth at 14+ years and we never brushed hers. Now Ginger gets brushed daily and C.E.T drops and C.E.T rawhide chews, she's 6 months and just finished teething. We started brushing her baby teeth and she loves getting her teeth brushed now and comes running when she sees you get the brush and paste. |
My Jada has to go every 12 months, Bogie is 6 and has only had to have one so far. It isn't something I skimp on. My mom's biewer didn't have one for several years and she got a secondary infection and it also affected her heart. Teeth issues can wreck havoc on their entire systems. |
