| Rash type itchy blistery bumps At my wits end. I've changed food to a healthy skin type. They were on blue grain free. Baby started first mostly on the belly. Vet gave antibiotics and steroids for itching.. Cleared up and came back. Now Bug, her sister is getting them, most likely negating a food allergy reason. Nothing environmentally has changed. Zero fleas. I have them on Benadryl and am treating each bump with Gentian Violet to try to alleviate their itching misery but it will not go away. I also am using a special shampoo. Note all these measures were undertaken after the it started so they are not the cause. Gentian Violet is harmless if ingested and does help with itching, heals bumps but more pop up. I can't see them going around covered in purple smears the rest of their lives, let alone the Benadryl issue. Anyone had anything like this at all?

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | It's very odd that they are both having the same issue, bc that makes it sound more like a bug/germ/parasite issue. However...when you say they're 'sisters', do you mean they're actually sisters, from the same Sire/Dam? If yes, then it's possible that allergies are running in the line and that they're both having allergic reactions to the same thing. If I were you, I'd get to a Vet Derm pretty quick to find out what's going on. They're not cheap, however, you'll likely spend a small fortune if you keep going back to your generalist vet for several frustrating appointments...whereas a Derm can usually figure it out in 1 appt, or at least figure out a plan for you to approach w/ your general vet. Where are the blisters occurring? Are they also chewing/licking their paws?

| I thought about the genetic aspect re/allergy. Baby started a couple months before baby and the food change did nothing. Btw, they had been on blue for a couple years before this happened but I know they can develop adverse reactions at anytime.. Will check into derm vet...thx.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Paw chewing/licking is the cardinal sign of allergies.

| I wish I could figure out what is causing the reaction... Appreciate the insight...

| What are all the ingredients in the food, it could be that there is something within the food they are not happy with, get a good probiotic for one thing, the antibiotic and steroids will have killed the good flora in their tummy's you want to get that re-established. I would ask your vet to check their organ functions, do some bloodwork. My friends Yorkie was massively covered in hives hair loss itching chewing bloated ear infections after being put on RC her had home cooked for up to then. I had her switch him to raw slowly, first my feeding just plain boiled organic chicken. All the itching and rawness stopped within a few days and the hives and ear infection gone after a week. It could be you have to do an elmination diet. My other friends little Lulu had similar issues, she home cooks too. She went to a derma specialist and he has her now doing an elimination diet rather than poking her with needles and doing loads of tests. Have you ever considered home cooking. You could consult with a dog nutritionist for assistance with that after visiting a derma specialist |

| They were on blue grain free for years.. This past month I switched them to natures recipe healthy skin. I'm actually seeing improvement. I find it hard to believe that this a superior food to blue... I had them on raw years ago and that didn't go over too well..
