| What's with the chewing feet?? I have been feeding CC Open Sky for about 6 months. I recently visited a different pet store that carried Natures Variety Instinct frozen so I bought some lamb medallions. I gave each dog 1/4 of a thawed medallian on top of their CC for dinner. Later that night, about 4 hours later, I noticed both dogs chewing on their feet. I didn't think too much about it but the next night after I feed them dinner with the Natures Variety on top the same thing with the chewing. They aren't just licking their feet - they are both chewing non stop. The next night I just gave CC without the NV and they didn't chew their feet. I feed CC for 2 nights without the NV and no feet chewing. Last night I tried the NV again and the feet chewing was non stop. It takes about 4 hours after they eat and then the feet chewing starts. Maybe the lamb is too "hot" of a protein or maybe there is something in the NV that doesn't agree with both of them. They really liked the NV so I'm bummed they reacted to it. Anyone have any opinions why they both react the same way after eating the Natures Variety?

| They much be allergic or have a reaction from one of the ingredients in the NV food. maybe break down the ingredients to see what is different that they may not do so well with but I would stop giving to them all together.

| I ordered 2 cans of NV Duck bc I needed to purchase a certain amount to get free shipping (from SitStay) & they never tried it b4. I gave them some the other night & I noticed Turbo scratching under his chin A LOT. He chewed on his paws too, he actually bit off his dew claw! Good thing it didn't bleed or anything, but thought that was really weird. I couldn't sleep bc he was scratching so much. Even checked to see if a tick was embedded under his chin or something... IDK, I never liked flaxseed in dog food...not saying it was the flax, but it gives my guys soft poopies (from what I've noticed), so I try to avoid it. Turbo can't have turkey, so I also wondered if it was the turkey liver in the Duck canned food. Scratches head & wonders why they didn't use duck liver. Anyway, I thought livers & oils & whatever that's not from the meat itself was ok, but I guess not, IDK! Have you looked into Primal? Excellent company! My guys are doing so well w/ it (both frozen & freeze dried), very happy...me & every furry body.

| I'm kind of surprised that they both had the same reaction at the same time. They were both chewing so bad their front feet were soaking wet. Guess I can scratch Natures Variety off the foods I wanted to try. I have tried Primal before and they liked it but I have to order online. I was happy that a store near me started carrying NV and I could have purchased locally. I wish they could talk and tell me what is going on.

| Princess & Momo eats the Primal frozen, so I buy that from the local pet boutique. Mimi & Turbo like the freeze dried that I add water to & I get that online bc it's less expensive...but need to order $49 to get free shipping. So I end up buying different canned food too. Maybe you can ask your pet store if they can order Primal for you.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | How odd that they *both* reacted like this - are they genetically related, bc if so, at least that would make some sense. Paw licking/chewing is a red flag sign of an allergy, so I'd have to wonder if they were allergic to something in the food. But again, so odd that they both had this reaction at the same time. Maybe try duck?

| No, they aren't genetically related. I couldn't believe it when I noticed Macy bitting her front feet and looked over at Molly and she was bitting her feet too. I stopped the NV lamb and the bitting has stopped. Macy is 4 1/2 and really sensitive to different foods. Molly is 1 1/2 and it seems she can eat anything and it doesn't bother her. I guess the dog shelter will get a nice bag of frozen lamb if they will take it already opened.
