| The only thing I can suggest is the you Google the following: Merrick's FDA I believe it is mostly for treats, but a company with that kind of history is not for me.

| I fed my picky eater Pomeranian that, and he loved it. Also they had a pretty good selection of grainfree/no chicken foods which was great because he had allergies. I also think it was good for him because he came to us on science diet, and had a big difference in coat after the change in food. I haven't tried any of the treats. Draco isn't on Merrick, but it's prob top 5 for dry dog food me when he moves from puppy food.

| OK...that opened me up for a plug for Hills Science Diet. My pups have no coat issues and they are on Hills Ideal Balance. Here are some recent pics of them where you can clearly see they look healthy: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/my-...ly-2013-a.html To each his own, but I personally trust Hills Science Diet...they spend money on research and feeding trials and I just feel they are a safer company. Not saying that other company's foods are bad; just saying that all that stuff about Hills being so bad is just marketing by companies who can only compete by bashing Hills. Lots of people buy their marketing and that's just fine...I just like to share my experience for those who might be interested.

| I was feeding Lola merrick dry food, but I switched to Fromm after finishing the first bag. I didn't really have a reason for switching. They're about the same price (Fromm has 1lb less but I only have 1 small dog and I ended up throwing out an lb of Merrick) and it's supposed to be better. I still feed her Merrick wet food. The only downside is it has carrageenan, which may cause arthritis. I'll switch her wet food when I find a better similarly priced one. |

| Honestly I think most dog food depend or your individual dog more than anything. I didn't mean it to sound as if I was knocking Science Diet. It didn't do well with my pup, and he didn't care for eating it. But seemed to enjoy it more than any other brands we offered, which included Blue Buffalo, Solid Gold, Wellness, and a few others. I'd simply recommend Merrick if you're trying to take a more natural approach to foods that he enjoy out of the other brands. And many members recommend Royal Canin for picky eaters that take on scientific method of creating the perfect food for your pup.

| I've tried BB, RC, ProNutrition (PetValu brand) & Acana - He's turned his nose up to all of these. CC is not available in my city. Merrick was suggested by a friend who has a Maltese that loves it. It gets a 5 Star rating. I'm at a loss with this picky little man

| The rating means nothing you have to look at the company first. Have you tried Now for Small breeds my picky eater really likes that.

| Have you tried soaking it in hot water for a few minutes then draining it and giving it to him?

| Seven + recalls on treats. Manufactured a food for another company that killed several dogs. As of a couple years ago they had a hard time providing guaranteed analysis on chews. Warning letter from the FDA in 2010 calling them out for salmonella, lack of quality control, and delayed recall. I wouldn't touch the stuff. Garth Merrick is fun to Google. You can read all about his rendering plant. They "use everything except the moo". Dog food it is. Holistic it is not.
