| help to gain weight I have a very picky eater. she doesnt really care for nutrical, although i can sometimes sneak it into her food. ive heard pumpkin might be good? my vet said she had never heard of using pumpkin before but its perfectly safe for her to eat. has anyone else had luck with this? or any other suggestions? she has had a blood test and a recent stool test which show she is just fine. this was the second vet to check her out, both came to the conclusion that she is just a small dog... ive asked for suggestions and dont get much of a response. her bones stick out pretty well and i dont want that for her. any advise is welcomed. |

| How old is your little girl? Did she have a chemistry and CBC blood tests? The vet agreed that she is underweight for her frame?

| Forgot to add, if she is a picky eater, you don't want any diet supplements to exceed 10 -20% of her entire diet. Otherwise you risk her not getting the right balance of nutrients, which will cause health problems.

| shes 6 years old. i dont know the specific names of the blood tests ran but i trust that the vet knows what to test for. she definitely didnt seem concerned about her weight, but did say it would not hurt if she did gain weight and obviously not to force feed her. im just wondering if there are any suggestions for picky eaters. |

| That's good that she is an adult and that your vet didn't seem overly concerned about her weight. Is she spayed? Intact females and males tend to be thinner. Are her rib bones visible? You should be able to feel them easily, but not see them. Have you tried different brands of food? As long as she is healthy, you could try a food that is denser is calories. Compare the calories per cup of different foods. I would also free feed, meaning leaving food in her bowl all day. Be sure to change the food that she has not eaten at least once daily. I'm sure there will more suggestions from other members shortly.
