At what age should I switch from puppy to adult food? My Beau will be 7 Months old next week. He is a chunky monkey at 11.5 lbs, my vet says he is still ok, but not to let him get too much rounder. His breeder had him on Royal Canin extra small puppy and I have been feeding him that since bringing him home. I want to start him on Canine Caviar and also switch over my other two dogs. Is this a good age to put him on adult food? The vet didn't have any thing else to say except if I want to switch foods, go for it. |
Usually a year to change from puppy to adult food |
My vet says after 12-16 weeks ALS formula is fine. |
I would say not untill they reach 18 months old. Even though the dog's growth seems to stop before then, their vital organs keep maturing till they are 18 months old. |

ZoE's vet recommended to start transitioning to adult food around 10months of age. She's been on RC since the get-go. I bought an adult bag as she went into her last bag of puppy food. I mixed the two, starting with alot of puppy & a lil adult, and gradually lessening the puppy and increasing the adult. By a year, she was on all adult RC. |
