Donating YT 500 Club Member | ![]() Taycie has gobs of records. Poor dog is only 2 and I am trying to figure out the best way to keep them organized. I currently have everything in a 3 ring binder all in plastic sheet covers, but it is about to explode. I like having all her records with me, if I travel but, I am wondering if there would be a easier way.. I thought of splitting into 2 binders. Once for vaccines, dentals, etc and once for illness.. Any ideas?

| ![]() My boys don't have a lot of records, but if I had THAT much I'd transfer to electronic format like I do with my receipts. You can scan everything to your computer and then toss the binder. Save up space too ![]()

| ![]() scan them to your email and then you could put them on a thumb drive to always have handy. im not sure that would work for you but a suggestion. i have a pendaflex with all my furr kids names and put their stuff in each pocket but its not full yet so i can continue until i cant fit anymore.

| ![]() I have all my dogs records in 8 part folders that you order from any place like Office Depot...it is a heavy duty card board type folder that is divided into 8 sections. I have vaccinations/worming, dentals, emergencies, breeding, puppy whepling records, owner interview application, puppy health checks, new owner spay/neuter verification and any other pertinent information ....all in separate sections. Problem with my system is, it isnt thick enough for a whole bunch of vet visits....a 3-ring binder with dividers between each different type of vet visit, and then follow up visits, seems like that would work best....I just bought one of those "Neat" scanners that help organize receipts, etc...will start using it when my computer is up and running! | ![]() I gave up on this. Ellie has a three ring binder. Older records at the back and newer at the front. Records (for record of things done), doctor notes, lab reports, and vaccine records mixed throughout. Things were already getting out of order between test results in weird format, things needing to be by each other for comparison, or whatev, then we got Rylee. His papers just got ossed in the front. lol. He should have his own, but if they go in together there is onereceipt that I have no deire to bug them to break in half. So whose record does it go in? I guess I could make copies, but that sounds...like unnecessary work. I could not have a separate binder for illness and one for routine because of overlap. And if I was just to take an illness binder with me, there are then no vaccine records on site. Two people other than me know my dogs' histories (to a reasonable extent) off the top of their head, and one f us is aways with them or reachable. When my friend watches Ry she gets a short summary of history, current meds and doses, and vaccines given all written down along with rabies certificate for proof. Ellie has too many issues to be away from family or vet. For her, whether I or someone else took her to a vet, I couldn't imagine handing them her file and having it all scanned in. No vet could even go over that much history in an emergency. I just yank current labs, etc. if needed. Most everything I do by memory though. Most labs are emailed to me anyway, so I save them and can see them from anywhere.

| ![]() The animal clinic I take mine to have a pet portal. They keep all the records, and all I ever have to do is sign into our pet portal to get any information I need. It's very convenient and handy. We can even add pictures and keep tabs on friends there.

| ![]() I just have a small-ish 3 ring binder. It's not exactly organized per say, but I tried to put most of his puppy stuff in one folder, and the more recent stuff in another. Then I have a folder for his overnight hospital visit stuff, there was a lot of receipts and papers for that, as well as his dental surgery. So yeah I just try to keep it all in one place at the very least.

I do it the old fashioned way...a folder for each of my babies and most recent stuff in front. I've thought about scanning...just haven't gotten around to it as yet.

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | ![]() Okay as a show breeder, I have the plastic multicompartment folder for each dog. IN one is all the breed specific health tests, and pre breeding tests, and all their working titles and championship titles. In the other folder - Vaccinations - + regular vet visit reports. Lab work ups. Diagnostic imaging results and reports - from injuries et al. Other professional health care - physio - chiro - homeopath et al. In terms of my vets I ask if I take two animals in at the same time for separate receipts. That way I am not photocopying. Been there done that don't like it ![]() Magic's files are each over two inches thick and growing Razzle's are only a inch or so thick. lol The more health challenges you face, the more that file will grow. Zoey's got pretty thick towards the end of her life - but now no more to add to her file. RIP gentle lady. Nb: For CT scans and MRI's I pay to have the actual scans put on disc for me, so that I can trot them around to different specialists as need be. Ditto for Xrays - these I have emailed to me and I save on a puter folder on my laptop.
