| Question about Natural Balance Hi all, I have a question maybe someone else has gone through the same thing. I feed one of my darling gal's NB small breed bites potato & duck and since i started feeding her this food she has developed such a horrible smell even after a bath. Unfortunately she has allergies and is currently on prednisone and we have been to the vet several times and he finds nothing besides her allergies. She was itching less but the smell is something that has never happened before. I contacted NB today but they insisted that nothing has changed with the food that i should try another NB with a different protein. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

| My dogs were on the salmon and potato for a few years and always had a fishy smell. My little female has severe food allergies so they both have to eat the special diet. She recently has had stomach issues also. Our vet wanted her to supplement with the canned variety in the morning. That salmon canned smell was just too much! We switched to the chicken and sweet potato, both dry and can, about 3 weeks ago and all is fine. Great breath and it actually smells great from the can too. Best of all, no allergy symptoms and it's bee well tolerated (no noticeable changes). Hope this helps, and maybe you can give the chicken & sweet potato a try. :-)

| Hi Cody's mom, I think i made a boo-boo and posted here instead of health and diet. Thanks for your response. Unfortunately Lola Belle is allergic to chicken. I was hoping and praying that NB would work for her. I just ordered Acana duck and pear. Fingers Crossed

| Acana is a good company. Natural Balance actually did change their duck formula one. It used to be called Duck and Potato but they reduced the amount of duck because of cost, added more potato and now call it Potato and Duck. It did have repercussions as many dogs couldnot handle the extra potato and got really bad gastro problems had to be taken off of it. |

| Hi Lorraine, thanks for the info. I thought something was wrong because she developed a horrible smell while on this food. I stopped feeding her the NB and have been feeding her home cooked meals and the smell is gone. This is why i really love this forum because i always learn something from the wonderful people on here

| My 2 boys love the Sweet Potato & fish (dry & canned). Haven't noticed a fish smell to them. I'm just happy they eat it!
