| Shedding When Have A Bath Hi, is it normal for Yorkies to shed when they have a bath. Rambo's hair was quite long and I decided to trim him when we came back from vacation but because he moved around so much I took off more than I wanted to. When I bathed him right after the cut there was quite a bit of hair in the water which was to be expected. But today when I bathed him there was a LOT of hair that was coming off of him. If it was dry I bet I probably could have had a handful of it. Is this normal? Rambo will be 1 year old on the 28th. He's not got any bald spots, hair isn't thin, no health problems, eating, peeing & pooping normally. I'm just wondering as his darker hair is starting to get lighter and lighter turning more silver as each day goes by, is it the dark hair that turns silver or is the silver hair growing in black of the darker hair and then this is what's being washed away. Sorry for being so long winded. Thanks.

| Mia loses hair to when i bath her. I notice on her head she has some baby hair left. She is only 7 months old now and I often wonder when she will not shed like that. |

| How often do you brush? A yorkie is considered a nobshedding dog but they loose hairs at the same rate people do. When washing or brushing some hairs will fall out, however if the loss continues at a high rate I'd be very concerned. What type of products used food, skin issues or medical issue.

| I brush him every 2 - 3 days right now as his hair is very short. There is a minimum of hair that's on the brush when I brush him but nowhere near what was in the tub today. When his hair was longer I tried for every night. He has no health issues. I use Royal Canin food and today I washed him in Silky Oatmeal shampoo and conditioner.

| I dont have a purebred yorkie but that sounds like what Jaeger's hair did. I dont wash him more than once every two months unless he gets dirty (vet says his skin is too dry for baths more often) but when i'd brush him his hair wouldnt come out too well with the brush, but I could pull it gently out with my hands and it'd come out in clumps (it didnt hurt him.) As his hair grew out, the brush picked up more and more of it, then it subsided for awhile and it seems like we're going through the cycle again. Each time it happens I notice each hair has more silver and less black per hair-for Jaeger, it was just his puppy fur growing out. |

| My schnorkie yorkie mini schnauzer mix did this both breeds are nonshedding but schnorkies specifically hace been known to have what we pet owners are calling heavy multing at this age getting their adult coats. Is it possible you have a mix?

| Hi, no Rambo is pure Yorkie. Maybe it is just his baby hair going. I will see next time I bath him. If I get as much hair loss like last time I will check it out with the vet.

| My dog Daisy has clumps of fur that come off when she is bathed. Then when I dry her, more comes off. I attribute it to stress (but ruled out medical causes w/ my vet first).
