| Best food to try for 1 yr old? My Lacey just turned 1 on 07/03/2012, and she's almost finished up her bag of puppy food. My neighbor gave me a little sample ziploc bag of Kibbles-n-bits Homestyle to try her on. She initially ate it the first day I put it in the bowl, but she acted like she HATED it the second day and wouldn't hardly eat for two days! I was wondering what the best food would be to try to change her to that she will actually eat, as she is SUCH a picky eater. I've had to coax her to eat the same puppy food all this time with sprinkling parmesan cheese on it and wetting it. Any advice appreciated! |

| Kibbles N Bits is a pretty terrible food so maybe Lacey's onto that lol. A common brand you can find that I like is Blue Buffalo if your dog will tolerate it. Three dogs in my family have done well on various formulas. My parents' beagle has done well on the healthy weight formula and my sister's picky senior yorkie loves the BB Wilderness formulas (especially the salmon one). When Toki was a younger puppy, she was on the Chicken and Oatmeal and then Wilderness for puppies. Toki's currently eating Fromm grain-free kibble. Fromm can be kinda hard to find for some people although it's readily available in my area and you can also order it online. It's also very affordable. We've tried the Salmon a la Veg, the grain-free Beef Frittata Veg, and the grain-free Game Bird. The Surf n Turf will be our next bag! Toki loves Fromm and her coat is so soft and shiny! She gets kibble in the evenings and some kind of raw most mornings (lately it has been Stella & Chewys freeze-dried). If Lacey still won't eat a higher quality kibble, you can try adding some warm water or mix a little canned food into it. When I want Toki to eat her breakfast instead of ignoring it until noon, I'll add just enough canned food to coat her kibble which she loves! |

| My Yorkie refuses to eat certain brands as well. She also vomits when fed most of the foods that she DOES eat. Royal Canin for Yorkies is the only brand that Crissie can eat and keep down. I've heard Blue Buffalo is good too. I'd try both out.

| I am currently feeding mine FROMM food. My 2 love the Beef Frittata and Salmon Tunalini, both are grain free! I order from Dog and Cat Food, Treats, and Supplies | Free Shipping at MrChewy.com They advertise having fast shipping and they DO! I ordered on Wednesday and my order was on my front porch 2 days later!

| Fromm. All the food is similar all stages. You can change without problems ..usually depending on the pup. Without giving it potty problems. IME if the food is good food and you change foods usually no problems. The food that has all the fillers gives them runny poops JME all depends on the pup |

Yorkie Yakker | I just recently switched Hazel from her puppy food to adult food and she is a very picky eater. I am feeding Freedom Blue Buffalo for Small Breeds and she eats it as well as she did her Royal Canine Puppy Formula. She likes fresh veggies so I usually add a little to the dish to stimulate her appetite. This is a habit that I started and now that is what she expects. Basically, I am guilty of making her a picky eater! Some of her favorite veggies are: asparagus, brussel sprouts, carrots, cabbage, sweet potatoes, green beans, peas and beets. I only add one veggie at a time and I do cook them before I give them to her. The only ones she likes raw are green beans, carrots and pea pods. I know that was way more than what you asked for, but I got on a roll and just kept typing. Good luck! |

| Both of my dogs eat Blue Buffalo and they absolutely love it. If it for some reason stopped working so well for them, Fromm would be the next food that I would try. I've heard nothing but wonderful things about the food. I really do want to try it with them, but they're doing so well on Blue Buffalo that why change if they're enjoying it? I change protein sources after every bag with each of them to give them variety. Since your puppy was eating Kibbles-n-Bits, when changing to a higher quality food, be sure to do it slowly as you don't want to upset her tummy. Kibbles-n-Bits is an extremely low quality food and changing from that directly to a higher quality food can cause extreme upset.... diarrhea, vomiting, etc. Usually it's best to transition over a 2-4 week period. Start out with 25 new/75 old for a few days or a week depending on how long you want to transition. Then do 50/50, then 75/25 before finally 100% new. Good luck on your search! |
