| Parvo :( Hello All; We just lost our new puppy to parvo! Any suggestions or ideas on how to disinfect my home? Especially the furniture and carpets since it's obvious they cannot be bleached. Thank you. |

| I am sooooooooo sorry about your baby....such heartbreak for you, as well as expense and the ordeal that little soul had to endure. CONTACT YOUR BREEDER. If that puppy came to you sick, she has it on HER property and she needs to decontaminate or she will loose every pup she has. You should be able to get a refund if it was in your contract. Now about decontaminating. I used Virkon. Color test materials....but I used it on furniture, I sprayed EVERYTHING in my home that was not thrown away....10 years ago,Parvo was brought in on someones clothes/shoes, that had been out looking at puppies, and almost wiped me out.....Google Virkon....it is what they used to stop mad cow disease from getting into this country from ports of entry when the mad cow disease thing started years ago...(you had to walk through it at all airports that had international flights, as well as ports of call)...It is safe to use around dogs....and you can spray it all over your yard too. I use it to this day....I dont want to EVER go through THAT again.....any one that comes into this house walks on throw rugs sprayed with Virkon. |

| Actually, a capful of bleach in a gallon of water will kill the virus and I sprayed a light mist of this on my carpet and couches and chairs when Noah came down with parvo. I used a higher concentration on the tile and washed all the bedding, blankets and toys in the washer on a "sanitize" cycle with bleach. Keep in mind that even if you sanitize everything, it can live in your yard and soil for years as well as come into your house on other peoples shoes, clothes and even dog hair. Other dogs can defecate in your yard also, and possibly spread it that way.

| For your yard, use one of those bottles that attaches to your garden hose that's for fertilizer. Fill it with Bleach & spray down the yard fences & house with it & you can use it on your lawn. I have a DayCare in my home & my yard/grass gets sprayed once a week with Bleach. |

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | I also recomend Virkon, I buy it off ebay from this seller , is a must have , so sorry about your baby, I make a gallon of virkon and put some in a spray bottle and spray everywhere. I been buying from this seller for a while. I also use it in the laundry since my son works at a vet hospital, and he deals a lot with all sorts of sickness. hugs, Virkon S Tablets 50 ct. | eBay |

But of course! Small detail!! And I need alot.... I clean all my crates, bowls, etc, on a daily basis...I spray all my floors in my home (now stained concrete, no carpet!), my yard, patio, anywhere the dogs walk in the house or yard, on a weekly basis, and once a month, everything comes out of my nursery as well as the yorkie room, and the walls, floors, all furniture, etc are sprayed liberally/wiped down with Virkon solution. I am absolutely terrified of Parvo....and it is rampant here in Houston. And when I have newborns, my home is effectively on lock-down....no one comes to my home, including but not limited to, family, friends, delivery people, etc... | |

| SOoooo sorry for your loss. listen to these ladies they know what they are talking about. Parvo is a very dangerous diease. About 13 year's ago my chihuahua got it from a neighbor's dog she went through such an ordeal, But the vet pulled her through. I bleached eveything. My Tippy is in Rainbow bridge now due to old age. Rest in peace little one. |
