| ![]() Ok so I was hoping for some opinions. Callie seemed to have allergy problems as soon as the weather started getting nice and she was eating Blue Buffalo Wilderness Chicken Small Breed mixed with Wellness canned grain free stews in the morning and at night but had the dry food available all day. Well the hydroxyzine wasn't working so we went to the vet who put her on a steroid and it seemed to help but made her whole attitude change so before testing her for being sick the vet suggested we wean her off the steroid and we did and she has not seemed to itch or have any rash and her eye dish charge seems minimal and she is going outside and doing everything she was before but I had switched her canned food to Weruva about the same time as she went on the steroids. Well she has been off the steroids almost a week and no itching, rashes, runny nose and anything so do you think there was something in the Wellness the she was allergic too? What do you think it could have been? I never thought it could be a food allergy because she never seemed to have a problem with foods before.

| ![]() Try feeding it to her again and see if her symptoms return. Then you would know for sure. Chicken is the #1 allergen in small dogs and I imagine different companies may have different methods for processing and preserving chicken used in the making of their foods. Guess I'd evaluate the labels first for diffs in preservatives first, as she seems okay with the chicken based dry food. Probably isn't environmental allergens though they are more common, and she is fine now off the steroids.

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | ![]() it could be, My Chanel develop a severe allergy to chicken , and she is 4 years old next month, My poor girl had to deal with it because she was lactating and litter and we could not give her any drugs. the Day it got really bad I had fed her organic chicken breast bits that I had made for her, she had that before but this time the allergy hit horribly bad, I had to take her to the EC and she had to get a shot. now she is in a chicken free diet.. Best of luck with your girl... |

| ![]() I hate to feed her that food again and then her break out and be all itchy but I guess its the only way to know for sure so when she finishes the can of food she is on now I will try the other one again. I don't think its chicken because she eats almost everything chicken and hasn't had a problem.

| ![]() My s**tzu I had was allergic to chicken. Took me awhile to figure out and I had been cooking organic chicken for her. She got so bad she was about eating herself from all the scratching and digging. I had her on Pro Plan chicken for years and wonder if she developed allergy from eating the same thing for yrs. I have my two Yorkies on grain free Fromm and I switch flavors in hope from that happening again? |

| ![]() I was told that although dogs like chicken, they have a allergy to it. As SOON as I took corky off of the chicken first food, he stopped itching. Poor dog was suffering for almost a year. |
