| Is my puppy morbidly obese? Alright, I am not looking at the Yorkie growth chart again, not even peeking, cuz according to that I may have a morbidly obese pup on my hands-not even a teapot... Now my pup is 14 wks. old and 4lbs. I don't care if she gains 10 more pounds (I'm sure she won't), all I want to know is, is that chart right? Is My pup like off the charts???? I may need a day off from puppyhood...

| Alot of times pups weights will be off the charts that chart only figures the weights of adult dogs that are going to be in the standard in weight. You take the 12 week weight and double it and that gives you an estimate of adult weight so your dog should be around 8 lbs maybe a little less. Not obese at all just a larger yorkie

| I highly doubt your puppy morbidly obese at 14 weeks old. Its has to do with genetics and the size of the parents and even the size of the litter all help to determine size.

2+2=4 X the Love ♥ Donating Member | Your pup is not obese... it just means that he will probably end up being larger than the average Yorkie according to the standards. One one out of my four is of standard size.

| when Brew was a pup he was off the charts as well. not obese though, just bigger. he's 9.2lbs now at 8 months old. i wouldn't worry about him not being on the chart, i just knew he was going to be over 7lbs because that is as big as it gets on those. You are not alone though! check out the teapot club. those pups would have been off the charts as well. |

| Chewie was 4 lbs. at 3 months. Now he's between 9 and 10 lbs. However, he has always been trim and fit. He just has a bigger frame. The same is probably true of your pup!

| Yep... When we first got Corky, they told us he was 2, he was really 1 and he weighed 9lbs. Now he is 2 and weighs 10. His frame is larger so he looks heavier. He runs around, and is fit. |
