| Mineral oil to clean ears. Have you ever heard of that? A neighbor of mine said that is what she has always used. I've never heard of that, have you?

| I would still ask my vet before I did it. There was another thread one time that said to feed your dog cotton balls if it ate glass. This was all over the internet...but is NOT something that should be done if a dog eats glass! Apparently it was one of those things that got sent around and everyone blindly believed it and posted it.

| Oh, it's there if you do an advanced search. It freaked me out. Of course mineral oil in ears is nothing compared to that....still good to check with a vet.

| I use an ear wash purchased from the pet store or vet. Hydrogen perxide also will works well to clean inside ears and won't damage the ear. |

| In 6 years all I have ever used is a dry Qtip and never had any ear problems with my three. Should I be using some solution for cleaning. Guess I never really thought about it until now

| I've always believed "If it isn't broken, don't fix it!" What you're doing is working for you. I wouldn't change.

| You can put a dab of oil on the Qtip and clean in the canal..but I prefer a non-oily solution...I do not like the look of greasy ear hair. |

| The mineral oil mihgt be OK if you're trying to get rid of ear mites but will work against you if there's a yeast infection. A vinegar-water solution or a commercially prepared product you can buy from the vet or pet store is safest. Don't dig around in the ears with q-tips either. I've been trying out a product called Zymox OTIC I've been getting from Revival. Some dogs seem to build up ear crud more than others. I keep a big tube of Vetromax from the vet on hand.
