Blind yorkie I have a little yorkie that juast went blind. We are at OSU vet Hospital right know! The are running test, they dont know what happen, but it looks like there is nothing that can be done. I just spent 500.00 dollors to see what is going on, the have came up with nothing. Someone please help me. He is a very healthy little boy. Never been sick. |
I am very sorry to hear that you and your baby are facing this. :( How old is he? What symptoms did he have that let you to know he was having problems? |
I am so sorry to hear this about your baby boy. Sending positive thoughts and prayers your way. Hoping the doctors come up with something soon for the cause of this and to help him. |
I'm so sorry for what you guys are going through. Have you contacted your pup's breeder? Maybe there is something way back in his lines that might be causing this. |
I am sorry to hear about your little one. Hopefully they can determine what caused it and that his vision will return. I have a senior yorkie that is nearly blind and they do seem to adapt. I will keep him in my prayers. |
Oh no I'm so sorry about your baby. I hope they can find out what is wrong with him. How old is he? Prayers going out for your little guy. |
I am so sorry. I hope they are able to find out what caused it. I will be praying for you. |
I hope they find out what is wrong but if there is nothing to be done, I wanted to share that blind dogs get around quite well. Dogs use their noses as their primary sense unlike we humans who use our eyes primarily. I do know someone who had a blind dog and you couldn't even tell most of the time. |
I am so sorry that you have been given such devastating news. Did the doctors give you a name for what has happened? A week ago I found out my 14 yr. old Rosie is not only going blind but is also going deaf. She is diagnosed with PRA...Retinal Degeneration. There is nothing they can do about it. They did assure me, though, that she would adjust. One of the vet students actually has a dog that is both deaf and blind. She was able to say, from experience, that a dog does adjust by using other senses. ~Joanne~ |
Is this the same yorkie you bred in 2009, or another yorkie you have that went blind? http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sic...e-removed.html |
So sorry to hear this - please let us know what the doctors find out. |

Sorry to hear about your pup. I have no advice. But wanted to wish you well. |
Sorry to hear about this. I had a Schnauzer who went blind and he did so well getting around that we think he was blind for awhile and we didn't even know it. |
Just wondering how your little one is doing and if the doctors have figured out what is going on. I remember when you had a puppy that was sold to a friend that lost an eye. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sic...e-removed.html Is this dog related to this other puppy that lost an eye at only 10 weeks old. I be very concerned that something needs to be looked at in your breeding lines if this is the case. |
I'm so grateful the have YT family. Words of incouragment is just what you need, when you get such bad news about your baby. Nestle is not the puppy that was blind in one eye. He is my two year old boy that I brought from a breeder in Zanesville Ohio. I was told by the Doctor that this is not something that is passed down from parents. The prognois: SARDS or sudden Acquired Retinal Degeneration Sydrome based on the ERG performed, cause and condition unknown. There is no medical treatment for SARDS and unfortunately remain permanently blind in both eyes. The only good news is that his eye will not change colors, they are very bright and clear. Please keep praying for us! It seems like the end of the world for me right now, but I know that God is in control of all things. |
