I am looking at Embrace and PetPlan, right now.... Now I'm wondering if Riley's allergic reaction/ear infection incidents would now be considered some kind of pre-existing condition if he has any issues with it, again, if I were to switch to a new plan. UUGGHH!! I'm okay with Trupanion right now....and paying what I am paying, but if they keep going up like that every year or so..... then I'm not sure it will be worth it. [I saw that some people's premiums went waaaaaay up]. I put money aside, anyway for Riley....because of course you have to pay it all upfront in the first place and then wait to be reimbursed.

| I doubt any company will pay for allergic reactions now for him except Trupanion. With most companies, anything that is "cured" can get exempted and then covered later (like a UTI), but predisposition to allergic reaction isn't curable. But then, it depends. If it's just one drug, then as long as that one drug isn't used, it may be just fine... If it's enviro. allergies, that will never be covered by anyone else as far as I know. That's the thing. I'm sure we will have a couple pre-existing things at the end of the year and then I'm not going to want to change. I can't believe it was raised to $150. That is crazy!!!!!

Ohhhhhh No Doubt!! I would Definitely cancel if mine went from $33 to $150. That is Outrageous!! I thought mine was bad going from $32.68 to $43.77. They had given me the Tresaderm [which he then had a reaction to....] for his ears, but never gave me anything for the allergic reaction on his tummy. Just told me to give Benadryl. I suppose i could call or email them and see what the deal would be. I don't mind paying the $43.77 right now, but if mine shoots up to $150, say next year, I will be gone in a minute. So then I'm thinking, maybe I'll switch, now. I just did a quote with PetPlan and it would be: $49.69. Ohhhh and I called a vet down where my parents are in southern virginia and their prices, Of Course, are much much more reasonable. I think I will be taking him down there from now on for his yearly and rabies, etc. Thanks, Again, For All Of Your Help With My Vaccine Questions!!

| Forgot to mention in our PMs, a different vet for vaccines is fine, but if you aren't doing yearlies with a vet that you will take him to when he is sick, then there is less of a client/vet/patient relationship. That can cause a bit of a problem later. Really depends on the situation, but if he hasn't been seen by a local vet in months and months and something comes up, they won't have the yearly exam reports to go from (because some doctors like to see what they wrote the year before, etc.). Just a thought.

| Most plans do not. However, most insurances offer an optional "wellness" plan that will, but they are NEVER worth the money. I did a lot of research on that aspect. They are not worth what you have to pay for them. I even had one of the agents at Trupanion tell me they weren't worth it. Last edited by Furbaby Friend; 07-23-2011 at 05:35 PM. |

| Insurance doesn't, but as the last poster said, wellness plans sometimes do. It looked like Embrace had a nice deal. It's really just a way to distribute routine costs over a year's time instead of paying all at once, but with this one they give you some bonus cash. I'd figure out how much you spend on routine things yearly and see if it would be worth it. It would be worth it for me.

| Dori's Embrace wellness plan provides $200 of coverage for $149. It paid for her spay and microchip. It even includes her Frontline. Her regular coverage carries a $200 yearly deductible and a 20% copay. I pay $36/mo. and am happy with their claims response.

| Has anyone tried Banfield?? I was wondering about it but I do not like the idea of having to use their vets. It reminds me of an HMO... which after studying the economics of those types of health insurance.. I would never want to be a part of Does anyone know about those?? Also ASPCA insurance??? |

| Google Banfield. You either love them or you hate them (depends on the staff at each location and the way the vet practices there). Banfield plan is not really insurance, and you are right, you'll be stuck there. I'd definitely keep looking.
