Max's peepee is stuck For those of you who have a male Yorkie, has yours ever had its penis stuck? Like it win't go back all the way? Thanks, Pam |
Did you try to pull the sheath of skin around it? Maybe its stuck. He may have been humping something and now just needs some help getting it back in. If you try to move the skin around it, that sometimes helps. I'm not sure how to describe the action. :) If its really not going back in, then you'll want to get him checked out by vet. |
I heard that hair can sometimes get caught and make it stuck. Do you have some K-Y jelly, it's supposed better than Vaseline. If out too long, it can cause major damage to the penis. I’ve also read that bathing is NOT a good idea and can cause problems. Call you vet to be sure, but many people say they were able to massage it in place. |
Oh my! I will try both! EWWW! Pam |
All I know is when my Sassy was in heat and one of my boys (he is neutered) got to her, my breeder told me not to try to pull them apart because I could damage his penis. You have to be very careful. Calvin would lick himself. |
A little KY should do the trick. If you can't get it to go back in or you see any discoloration, then a trip to the ER vet is in order. |
Back in!:) Pam |
lol thanks for the update :) |
Good job mom! |
I have never had a boy dog before Max - good to know for future reference. |
I don't think most boys have a problem, I don't know if the hair trim makes a difference. |
:) been there done that! |
I must be immature, because I read this thread, giggled, and then had all these smart @$$ comments that ran through my head that I could respond with and that probably wouldn't be appreciated. On that note, I've never had a male dog either and this information is appreciated in case Gizmo gets...Uh, stuck! |
I have always done a trim on the boys. My dogs are the reason that I own a box of surgical gloves. ICK |
We've dealt with this issue before too. :) We got it back in easily - but caught the problem immediately, thank goodness. |
