Change in food causing chaos? So my little boy has food allergies, he cant have beef, salmon, corn, oats, peas, or grains. I've been feeding him Nature's Recipie chicken but then it had oatmeal in it so I changed it to the healthy diet kind that didnt have anything he was allergic to in it and now all of a sudden my other puppy started eating her poo and he has a urinary tract infection. The uti is probably not from the food but the whole thing is weird. A lot of hypoallergenic foods have oatmeal or peas in it so its super hard to find something. Just wondering if any one else had a simiar problem or any suggestions on where to go from here?? thanks:aimeeyork |
How about Natural Balance? The only true hypoallergenic foods are Rx allergy diets and that might be a good idea. Was an elimination diet done? Sensitive to all grains? |
I did a blood test, I am worried getting such a limited diet is causeing my other non-allergic dog to eat her poo. She never did it before until I switched to the limited ingrediet so Im worried now that diet is missing something she thinks she needs |
Probably not, but can you just feed them separately? Blood tests are totally unreliable for food allergies. I know they are offered, but many vets won't even attempt to go this route because of the money wasted. An elimination diet is still needed. When in doubt about what food to use for allergies, an Rx diet is best. |
