spaying Hi, everyone I posted a few weeks ago about getting our precious Chloe. She is absolutely wonderful. I could not imagine my world without her. I never knew I could love a little furry creature so much. She is doing great and has claimed me as her mommy:rolleyes:. She has been doing excellent potty training and of course sleeps with me and my husband every night. She is so spoiled. She is going in Friday to be spayed and possible extraction of a baby tooth that is holding on. What should I expect with the spaying. She jumps on the couch and tries to jump on our bed. I know this is a no, no after surgery. I do not want to keep her in her x-pen if I can help it. I took vacation time so I will be with her for 5 days. Any advise to help her heal and be pain free as possible? With her tooth extraction, will she need wet food for a few days? I feed her Orijen and it is a little soft, I do not want to upset her tummy with the wet food. |
My opinion is-and others may disagree but-that I would act as if nothing has happened. The stress you show will affect her. If you are stressed, she will be stressed. If you are happy-go-lucky, then she will be also. Most of the girls I have seen through the spay don't act as if anything happened on day 2. I even picked one up at the vet and she was all chipper that same afternoon! Make sure she doesn't jump though. If she does jump, one jump shows them it is painful and they won't do it a 2nd time. Usually. If she is really hyper, you will have to crate her. Teeth extraction? No wet food. No change. Dogs are more resilient that we realize. |
