| Diarrhea ...help Kody is 23 weeks. Two weeks ago he had diarrhea - took to vet, they checked him out everything fine - put him a special diet and gave me meds for the the running stool. That cleared up after about 4 days and he was back to normal - eating regular food - stools became normal and hard again. So here were are two weeks later and late last night - he was down for bed and started whining, he usually doesn't do this. So I took him out and his stool was mushy. Again 3 hours later the same thing, this time runny. Again at 5:00 runny (the type you can't pick up). My question, is do Yorkies go this bout while teething? I know he has lost a few teeth over the past couple of weeks and 1 as of yesterday. I can see more of his K-9s coming in as well. Any suggestions? Last time when this happened and I tried the chick and rice - he picked over rice and only ate chicken. After that I got the special diet food which he loved. I think I should have used the food processor? One more thing to add - we did go on a longer walk yesterday.

| Usually its something they ate, new treats, bullysticks, someone sneaking him people food or even the food he is eating that may not agree with his stomach. Since he is a puppy make sure its not something around the house that he is getting into. If you can get to the grocery store buy some organic canned pumpkin , not only does it help with the UGLY D's , it will help to settle his tummy. I would also do the boiled chicken and rice for a few days as it is very gentle on the tummy. What kind of food is the little guy eating? What kind of treats do you give?

| You can also try some bananas always works for my Lola. Part of the "B.R.A.T." diet for humans; bananas, rice, apples and toast. |

| Thanks. The only new thing he has had since and after the first episode was Himalayan chews. He has been fine all week - normal eating and stools. All of this just started last night and into this morning. How much banana - I gave him a little this morning maybe a quarter piece. Also - I called my vet - they told me to bring him in. So he is there now, I'm waiting to hear from them. Food - Wellness Super5Mix - before he was on Royal Canine - has been on Wellness for about 2 months now. Treats - very little maybe once or twice a week (the name excapes me but they are little tiny bite size treats about 5 cals each). Not getting into anything around the house that I know of. We watch him like a hawk. When we aren't home - he's in his crate. Drinking water good. Appears happy and healthy - energetic. He is teething. But the vet said that should have nothing to do with diarrhea. I will buy some of the organic pumpkin to keep on hand. How much should I give of that? How often? When to stop?

| As long as you got him to the vet follow what he has to tell you. I'm no vet but I'm guessing chews didn't agree with him. Ask your vet about the banana which I think is good to feed him all the time as a treat. Been there done that. |

You can give 1 teaspoon of pumpkin with each meal for a day or two. You can put the remainder in an icecube tray and freeze it. I'd eliminate any treats till his problems resolve, then only give one thing at a time so you can tell what affects him the wrong way. One of mine gets diarrhea from treats, the other from chews....

| I use about a teaspoon , here is a trick, after to take out a few teaspoons, go to the dollar store and get a ice cube tray. Freeze the remaining pumpkin in the cubes and when/if he ever has a upset tummy you can just thaw a cube or two. Its great to have it on hand. I put my icecube tray in a freezer bag in the freezer it prevents freezer burn. Im sure he is fine , you said you took a long walk maybe he ate some grass or something along that way that you were unaware of.

| Thanks everyone for the help and replies - I always know where to come for answers. I just heard from my vet - and Kody is fine. Not sure what caused this episode but all is well. He was given some meds for the diarrhea and put on a special diet for a couple of days. I will make sure to get the pumpkin and ice cube trays. Can I still give the pumpkin with the special diet food and meds - or is that overkill?

| Oh, I forgot - just an FYI - banana is fine in small amounts, I wouldn't give too much or every day though only because bananas are pretty high in sugar
