Eukanuba .. What do you feed your fur babies.
 

I started feeding my first fur baby Emma (6 yr old dachshund with disc trouble) Eukanuba for dachshunds. It is supposed to have Glucosamine and Chondroitin Sulfateto help with joints.
I also feed the yorkie formula. I switch and get either yorkie or dachshund . They seem to eat the yrokie formula better. On a better note the dachshund formula last longer than the yorkie. So just curious what you feed and what you use for training treats.

I'm not too fond of Eukanuba because of the fillers.

I use Nature's Variety -- raw in the morning and kibble in the evening. For training treats, I use Zuke's Mini Naturals.

I am not sure anyone here carries that.. I will look into it. Thanks for the info.

I hope more people chime in. There are many good brands out there, and you might be able to find them locally. You would be surprised at the brands you can find at a feed store, and if you can't find something good locally, there are always sales and free shipping available in online stores. (I wouldn't buy frozen raw online, but any kind of kibble and canned is easy to find online). If you have Petco or PetSmart locally, they both carry Wellness brand and it is excellent.

All we have here is a Huge feed/farm/pet shop That is where I get this from. I will ask about wellness. They might be willing to order. Or walmart hahhaha and good luck getting anything from them. I so do not like that store...

I don't like all the fillers in Eukanuba so I've never tried that kind. I feed my 8 month old yorkie Earthborn Holistic. He loves it and it has probiotics added in. They made a sample bag you can try for $2.99 and it comes with a $3 coupon to use if you buy a big bag. He gets Zuke's Mini Bakes and used to get Wellness soft treats but Wellness makes him vomit so we can't use those anymore.

I feed my babies Eukanuba...My 2 year old is on Eukanuba for yorkshire terriers and my 17 week old baby is on Eukanuba puppy...I tried the others like blue and a few others when I first got Bella but she wouldn't eat it at all...so I went back to Eukanuba...they like it and are doing good on it and thats all that matters...Eukanuba is not the best but its not the worst either.

Oh and I give them bil-jac little jacs, Cheese and chicken and chicken liver,carrots and green beans for treats they love them.

I feed Orijen and Acana kibble and have been very happy with it thus far. I also add Go! into the rotation alot. He also gets wet food so we buy a variety of brands including Nature's Variety, Wellness, Go! Endurance, Now!, Castor & Pollux, etc.

The treats I use most of the time is Canz Real Meat treats. Jackson goes crazy for them -- they're only two ingredients, and super easy to break apart, so great for training and they last forever. I also use Zuke's Mini Naturals . As far as training goes, I often use people food... I buy those cheese sticks and one stick can last a long time, I break up tiny pieces. Or boil a chicken breast for him.

I would also stay away from Eukanuba.

Right now Taycie is eating Pinnacle Duck and Potato. I can not tell you HOW HAPPY I am with it!

She has so many tummy issues, and I found out she can NOT tolerate salmon or salmon meal and that is in SO MANY dog foods..

I am really impressed with how well she is doing on it. I am sure she is feeling better too! Because it is a limited ingredient diet I like to add either a TBSP of either Before Grain Canned or Wellness 95% Meat.

As for treats go, She LOVES Zukes! I also keep a boiled piece of chicken in the fridge. She loves carrots and small pieces of apple occasionally. I am picky about treats, and she does not get them often, I just try not to upset her touchy tummy.

In the past we have tried Nature's Variety, The Honest Kitchen, Acana, all of which are wonderful foods. If you have trouble finding a particular food I would look at

Has anyone ever used the Biljac food? My 3 little boys normally eat the Yorkie Royal Cannin but they aren't picky so I bought a bag after reading the ingredients (the first of which is chicken) they seem to love it so far but I just thought I'd throw it out there to see if anyone has any experience with it. Thanks for any info. you can provide.

OP, if you are looking to add Glucosamine and Chondroitin Sulfate check out Nupro Silver Joint. We have had great success with this product.

We feed Sophie Wellness and she is thriving on it. She is very fit, full of energy and has great check ups. We also give her Mother Hubbard Baked Treats also made by Wellness. Other treats she likes are bits of raw carrot, a teaspoon of plain yogurt and tiny pieces of cheese. Sophie loves her kong treats too.

if your dogs are fine on the food leave them on it there is something wrong with every brand of food in all peoples eyes
its what works best for you or what you are limited to buying

I agree... find what works and stick with it!!.. there isnt a PERFECT FOOD out there for every dog and you will get a HUGE amount of replies on what others feed their dogs and what they feel is crap food etc.. if your dog is fine on the the food that youve been feeding than dont switch because someone on a forum said to...:cool:

Sasha gets Primal raw in the morning and Blue Buffalo Wilderness kibble in the evening. I like to rotate flavors with both. When it comes to the raw, I usually buy 2 bags which normally hold about 64 nuggets. She only gets 1 1/2 nuggets so the bags last awhile, about 3 months or so so it's worth the money. As far as the dry food goes, Wilderness comes in 3 flavors so I change flavors after every bag to keep things interesting for her. She definitely loves meal time.

Hey Brit, which flavor of the Canz treats does Jackson like the most?, i'm thinking of picking some up for Lexie to try, she likes the Zuke's but she's not doing backflips over them. I think she prefers treats with a more appetizing smell like the Wellness puppy they smell like smoked meat.

^^ These smell like smoked meat for sure! Jackson is iffy on the Zuke's. Sometimes he likes them, sometimes he doesn't. Flavors he likes best are venison and the chicken one, I think it's chicken and turkey or something? It's in a yellow bag.

I am now feeding Solid Gold Just a Wee Bits. It is a quality food, all life stage food (important as I have a 6 month old pup and 2 adult dogs), all three seem to really like the food, AND it is available locally! That last criteria was a big one as I had been buying all my dog food online for years. Then the local hardware store expanded its dog food options and provided me with several great products. Really -- the hardware store! :confused: I am not complaining though! The best I could previously do locally was what Petsmart offers. So I am happy to feed Solid Gold!

They had other options and I did let them choose between this one and Innova. But since they ate Solid Gold so well and Innova was not an "All Life Stage" food, Solid Gold won out. Most of the completely grain-free options were too high in protein for my liking -- for instance 42% for the Evo Red Meat. Merrick Before Grain foods offer a much safer 32% protein. I would love to go with that, but they do not currently carry it. If I can hit my stop for food on the day the lady who stocks the dog food is in, they said I could probably talk her into adding it as they do have some Merrick can food selections. But for now, Solid Gold Wee Bits is a pretty great alternative.

We've also had good success with NOW for small breed.

Yea I was shocked to see Lexie turn her nose up at the Zukes recently, she's so picky:rolleyes:. Is it the Venison or Venison and fish?

It is grain free.

I feed Primal Raw nuggets as well as Primal Raw Meaty Bones:):) We are all about the raw in our home!!!!!! I recently took out kibble from the mix, but if I had to recommend a kibble it would be Acana or Orijen. We also took out bullysticks as they cause my Snickers to itch his face.

Good luck, finding the perfect food is not easy!!!!

After years of feeding Eukanuba, I read what was actually in that food and starting searching for a GOOD food for my babies. After a lot of trial and error and lots of diarrhea, Fromm Whitefish and Potato is the winner. Stools are great and my babies LOVE the taste. I am presently mixing Evengers Pheasant and Brown Rice in with the Fromm, but they pick through to get the Fromm. Evengers is a really good food, too. I want the best for my babies. Of course, I live in the country and have to order the food online. I get the Fromm from Luke's All Nature Foods. I've been very satisfied. You can order the Evengers from their own website and they have really fast service. :animal36

I use Eukanuba small bites for small animals. My two babies love it. I also treat them with treats daily.

I feed my dog Blue Buffalo - the deboned salmon. Good stuff. For treats I use Blue Buffalo Bits and also Wellness treats, the salmon and lamb soft treats.

Royal Canin for my lil ZoE. She loves it :)
