Great answer, I hope she can look into this. That's about what I was charged, and Joey only had four teeth pulled as well. My vet put them in a little vial, I'm thinking about making jewelry with them.

| My bad. Jodi is right...often this is done along with a spay or neuter. Although, they might still charge for removal. BUT the base price of 300 was for a dental that a pup that young should really not need. My vet has not charged me in the past if I had a puppy being altered and he/she needed deciduous teeth removed.

| Thank You all so much I am surely going to look into it ASAP I dont have a problem paying for it if I have too but some of the vets I asked for estimates are outrageous then other vets wont give you a price until you come in and pay their doctor visit fees. No one has money these days to just throw away. Thanks for all the help and advice I needed it. |

| Spike had ten baby teeth removed at the same time he was neutered. The main expense is the anesthetic, so it pays to shop around. I actually sent the first estimate I got to other clinics in the area, so they could see exactly what was required (because it was itemized on the quote), and quote their own price accordingly. The only thing you might have to do is pay for a consultation at the new place, which may add to the cost, because most vets won't perform an anesthetic without examining the dog first, which makes sense to me. I did the same thing when I had Spike's teeth cleaned. I got a quote, shopped around, and saved a lot of $$$. You might also want to try clinics in a rural area. I don't know where you live, but I live in a city that has a lot of small towns around it. If you're prepared to drive a little bit out of your way, you might save a lot of money, as vets in small towns tend to charge less than their big city counterparts.

| I think that $800 is a bit much. I think I paid about $400 or something for Teddi to get 1 dew claw removed, about 6 teeth removed and her teeth cleaned and this is in California where I would think it would be a little bit more.

| Just keep in mind that cheaper is not always better. I have heard of people who went to "old school" vets who were cheap but who did not do continuing education; and sadly their pups got sick and/or died as a result. When looking for a vet, it is a good idea to go to one that has a facility that is AAHA certified. American Animal Hospital Association Make sure you are comparing apples to apples.

| I live kind of close to you in the Niles/Chicagoland Area. I go to petsmart and my little guy just got on the adult dental plan which is $32/month or so. HE BADLY needs extractions, he needs a total of 10-12 extractions. They are only charging me around $350 because 1. having the dental plan takes off 15% off the total, AND 2. the vet is really nice and is only charging me for half the extractions. That price includes a dental prophylaxis as well as the extractions, it also includes about $50 of emergency medication which he may not ever need so if they don't use it, it brings it down to around $300. I had them give me a printed out estimate for it. I know not all petsmarts are good but I love mine, I go in there whenever I have the slightest problem and get all my questions answered, they also have this new website that tracks all the results of all tests, visits, etc so its all on there for me to see. He was also neutered there too with no problems. I go to banfield in petsmart in niles I'm going to be making an appointment soon to get him in for it all.
