| Which dog food is better? I'm getting ready to gradually change my puppy's food from what the breeder had him on (purina pro plan) to either chicken soup for the puppy lover soul, evanger's, or wellness. Which one of the latter two dog foods is better? Last edited by snh; 12-13-2010 at 01:47 PM. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | My vote would be Evangers or Wellness. If you post the actual ingredients of what you're looking at, there are lots of smart folks who can give you a more detailed answer.

| We recently switched and went with Wellness. I have been very happy with it so far. Rosie is a picky eater but took right to it without any trouble.

| I've personally never fed any of the 3 but from what I've learned about dog foods I'd say Wellness. I know many people use this food and have great results with it. Then again, this food doesn't always work for every dog. |

| Yes, I agree. My two eat Wellness small breed. My Vets even use it for their dogs. They say it's one of the best ones out there. If yours is still a puppy then get Wellness puppy.

| My dog is the exception to Wellness. It did not agree with his system. I use Royal Canine, probably not as good as wellness...but keeps Copper happy! Petco was great about taking back the Wellness food. They told me they would if it didn't work and they did, no problem.

| Thanks for the help guys. After further research, I decided to go with Orijen puppy because it's rated 6 stars and really isn't that much more expensive than the other foods. |

| Whatever you go with, I recommend you try and get some samples first or buy the smallest bag possible- what is good on paper may not always work for your pup. Wellness looks great and I always hear great things about it, but for some reason it just did not agree with one of mine. |

| My boys are on Acana Grasslands (made by makers of Orijen). When not on that, they eat Wellness Small Breed Adult.

| Before joining YT, we used Eukanuba for many years. Then, when I read posts on here and did my own research, we made the decision to switch to a healthier food. We tried Artemis - which proved to be too rich for my yorkies. Then we tried Wellness as well as Chicken Soup, but still had problems with loose stools. We have settled on Evengers. Their Chicken with Brown Rice has done really well with my babies, but I want to get them on Pheasant and Brown Rice. I also like Fromm's Whitefish with Potatoes. May mix that in every once in a while. |

| Ok guys so I got the Orijen puppy today and I purchased a couple of cans of Amazon Liver by Weruva(rated 5 stars) to mix with the Orijen puppy because currently I'm adding about a tablespoon of cottage cheese per breeder's recommendation. So I'm going to start the transition to the new food tonight and I'm going to add a tablespoon of the weruva instead of the cottage cheese. What do you guys think? Does this sound ok? |

| Raley ate Chicken Soup for a couple of months and LOVED it. However, my business partner and I split ways and our little shop was the only place here that stocked it. They will send you a sample if you go to their website and request it. Since I don't have access to that brand anymore he now eats Blue Buffalo mixed with Wellness! Good luck!
