Waxed Dental floss

Braiding enough dental floss to make it 1" in diameter? That's gonna take so much time. Why do that when you can just buy a specifically for dogs chew toy for a few dollars? I don't get why you would want to spend the time to make this?

LOL- sheesh, don't make me sound like such a loser with so much time on my hand I like to keep my hands busy. If I sit down to watch tv or a movie, I'm usually crocheting or knitting. Braiding and twisting floss was just another hand-craft idea. I wouldn't be making a bunch of 3 stranded braids. I'd probably be twisting 30 strands or so together, then braiding 3 bunches of that. The time consuming part of it would be cutting all the strands.

From one crafter to another, I really dont understand why you would take the time to do this, when it's evident that dental floss can have disastrous effects to these little ones. I crochet and knit, and well as sew and corsetry and millinery. We both know that the time it takes to make these things is less than minimum wage, so my question again is, why would you spend so much time doing that when you can buy one that is dog safe for a few bucks? Or if you're watching tv and knitting, do a dog sweater or something.

Agree!! I am also a crafter (actually made pretty good money at it for a while). I crochet and paint, dabble in some other crafts. I'm retired from the Navy and have a lot of time for crafting pursuits; but there is no way I would be making 3 inch doggy toys out of dental floss. Donate the floss to a homeless shelter, if it is not the kind you like, and make something out of fleece for the pups! Fleece flossy toys are great and easy to make. You can also crochet or knit a wide variety of toys and apparel from the grumble balls, to stuffed animals. JMO since you asked.
