My 1-year-old had pretty bad breath as a pup, but I think that was because of the fish oil I was putting in her food. I Googled, and the advice said check to see if the dog's teeth and gums are sensitive. If there's any pain, it could be a sign of a medical issue. If it persists, I'd definitely talk to a vet.
If all seems normal, you might try brushing. Get a tube of pet-approved toothpaste from the pet store and start brushing daily. I've been doing that with my 6-year-old his whole life, and he's only needed one cleaning. Even at that, the vet said his teeth were in amazing shape for a 6-year-old Yorkie. |
