OMG...She Ate the Poop! I have two furbabies, one which is two (Winston) and the other is 15 weeks (Scarlett). My two year old just went to the bathroom and my baby was sniffing around it like she wanted to check it out and in a blink of an eye she picked up a piece and ate it! Yuck! Why would she do that?!?! |

Your Scarlett is still very young. It's possible that she just imitated what she saw her dam doing (keeping her den clean). But definitely read the threads listed, and if it keeps happening, follow megansmama's advise- she's the poop guru of these boards.:p |

Don't give me any ideas:) |
LOL, when Robbo ate his poop once I was so upset not to mention he tried to give me kisses after!!!!!!! I mean really Robbo! This morning you will never guess what happened....I was lying in bed when Robbo start the retching sound like he was going to be sick so I picked him up and popped him on the floor and stroked him to comfort him... He was sick.... I turned round to grab the kitchen roll which was an armstretch away...(literally 3 seconds, not even long enough for him to move his head you might think.) Turned back round and the sick was gone! As in nothing there....even to the extent I thought I might have imagined it... But no when I looked at Robbos little angelic face he was certainly munching on something and when I looked into his mouth about 5 seconds after realising it was clear! All gone! All this happened within about 10 seconds! Yuck! When no |
My 14 week old valentine does the same thing! I have to pick it up right away before she can eat it, she even tries to eat my yr old fur babys poop! |
This is why I don't let dogs lick my face, especially my mouth. I've seen too many dogs do too much nasty stuff with their mouths! Y'all get all the dog kisses you want, but I'll pass. |
My little guy did this as well. I would have to rush to pick it up. He seemed to stop this behavior as he got a bit older. Although I'm not sure what would happen if the poop was left there for a while. |
I was wondering if this habit is more common among dogs that come from crowded pens with other dogs. I realize this is a natural habit of canines and some do and some don't. |

Give them some fresh pineapple, tastes good going in, but horrible when they try it in the poop...meat tendorizor helps too, however, these are both short acting soultions....their is something called FORBID that you can get at your vets which is a powder....good luck! |

Mickey likes his poop too! We need to start Pop Eatters Anonymous-LOL |
Welcome All Pooper Scoopers! I am trying the products Forbid and Dis-Taste. Not sure if they are working or not, since it can be difficult to monitor your dog at all times. I allow mine to run free when I am gardening and just doing little yard projects. She used to take the Dis-Taste tablets like a treat, but now has decided she does not like them. Currently trying the Forbid product on her food and not quite sure how that is working yet. The best practice is to keep it cleaned up and out of the yard. Again, the reality is sometimes it can be hard to find a needle in a haystack!!! Good Luck to you all!!! |
