| Fleas!!!! HELP!!! My baby has the fleas...bad. I use First Guard 3 weeks ago. Can i go ahead and give him another dose? He must be picking them up on our walks thru the woods at night. I don't seem to have them in the house but bombed the house anyways. Any suggestions? He is 3lb 14oz and has a liver shunt. |

Here is an article that suggests that you use a fogger, and other things that you should do before using the flea bomb. | I would go buy a flea dip because you dont want to put something else into his blood stream for another week most flea dips are safe because they just sit on the coat (at least from what i understand) if you dont want to use another chemical of any kind then go to the store and get lemons or lemon juice you can add the equivalent of 4 lemons to a gallon of water and use that as a flea dip it also works really well (but then your dog smells like lemons and that smell makes me gag)

I googled First Guard Flea and couldn't find anything. Are you certain that's the name? For immediate, temporary removal of fleas you can bathe him in Dawn dishwashing liquid.

| Fleas are really bad in FL so most of us down there use an internal pill called Comfortis. I love it and it really works well. Since I have started using it, I have not found a flea on Zeke. |

| You do not necessarily need all the chemicals. When we had a flea problem last year, I actually did not use any chemicals. Draw a very deep bath, with the stopper in your tub. Put a ring of Dawn dish soap (the original kind with the white seal on the front) around your pup's neck. Submerse your pup in the water (obviously not his /her head) but full body in the water. It will drown the fleas. The dish soap will keep them from getting onto the head. Wash the pup thoroughly. You may need to repeat this for a few days. Flea comb your pup 2-3 times per day. Make sure you are very thorough. Clean your house. Sorry to say it, but there are definitely there. Vacuum everywhere. Steam clean ALL carpets. Wash every bit of fabric that exists, in HOT water. It will take a while, but you will get rid of them. |

The next time we drive down there, I'm thinking about getting a belly band, or putting his potty pads in the back of the car (Rav4), so he can use that and not walk around. It took my mom a long time to get rid of all of them...she even found them in his water dish.
