| Bailey is getting chunky, I need advice on what to do. Before Jesse joined our family on August 8th, I always free fed Bailey and he would nibble on food throughout the day. Now that Jesse is here Bailey has become a total piggie, he tries to eat all the food at once and he eats very fast, it's like he isn't even chewing it! Jesse is a very slow eater and very picky as well, so I need to keep food out so he can have it available for when he feels like eating. How do I prevent Bailey from eating all the food? I swear Bailey eats it just to prevent Jesse from having any, and Bailey is getting very chunky, which can't be good Any advice?

| I don't think I'm of much help, but had the same problem. When I adopted Tia at Easter, we found out that she LOVES to eat. Ally, on the other hand, is slow, picky, and can get side-tracked. Ally was apprx 15 months old when Tia came home at 10 weeks/8 oz. For such a tiny baby, she gained weight fast and is now 4 lbs 2 oz. I had to pick her up so Ally could eat. She would just push her way in there and if I didn't watch, she would eat hers and Ally's food. I free feed too, but monitor both dishes. Tia (Miss Piggy) gets a certain amount at breakfast and won't get any more till dinner. She usually eats everything, but she has slowed down because she has quit growing. I tell her 'NO' when she goes to Ally's dish and watch closely. I do pick up the dish if I leave the room for a good amount of time, because she will sneak it!!!! I watch Tia for overeating and watch to make sure Ally gets enough. Tia is 7.5 months and she is doing pretty good about her own dish. |

| Thanks to both of you The problem is Jesse will not eat at a designated time, he just nibbles. I hope I can figure something out.

| Could you possibly mixed can or something else yummy in to entice Jesse to eat? I have to do that with Jackson. He is also a nibbler. But I started him on scheduled feedings a few months back. So he gets a bit of wet mixed in so he eats his breakfast.

| I've been trying to find something that Jesse really likes, so far no luck, but I am still looking!

| He will eat if it's the only time that food is available. I use to free feed too and had to stop once I added #2 and #3. It just wasn't working any longer.

Maybe try that? We found out after trial & error that Natalie only likes meat flavored anything- she will have nothing to do with veggies or fruits! | |

| You might also try Natural Balance rolls and just finely grate it over the kibble. Just enough to flavor it, but not overdoing it. Thats what I have to do with Neo's groceries. |

| He will be hungry if there isn't food down all day. My friends had the same problem with their two yorkies. One was not gaining and the other was becoming a porker. The had to do first thing in the morning and 6pm. when I was puppy sitting Ripley tried to eat April's so I put them in different areas to eat. Ripley was a whopping 8 fatty pounds and is now 5 because of Jen's persistence |

| I did this, too. I was trying to switch to a kibble mine didn't like. I bought a bag of freeze dried beef liver that they both went NUTS for. It really is super easy to crush it between your fingers into a powder. And it made them both eat the kibble. The brand I used was called PureBites and I got it at PetCo. Quote:
